Dumb Alignment Question

Please excuse the dumb question. UPS just brought my new gunmetal grey TRD Pro wheels, and I have an appointment at the dealer to have them mounted with the OEM tires and TPMS sensors. My question is, since I am going from a +30 offset on the OEM wheels to a +4 on the new ones, do I need to have an alignment done? The truck is a 21 and only has 4,000 miles on it. Thanks

 

I did the same upgrade basically and did not get an alignment, but now I'm curious as well. I've not noticed any wobble, shimmy, pull, etc at all. Actually drives straight as an arrow and smooth.

 

Changing the tires and wheels will not affect the alignment. Lifting and /or major suspension work would though.

 

No lift, just a wheel change to a different offset.

Not required by any calculation that I can think of. Tires and wheels with different offsets don't affect alignment.

 

Not with OEM tires.

Sometimes the 17" rims rub with LT265/70R17 ever so slightly and an alignment can correct it.

 

If you have never had it aligned, probably.

Offset changes scrub which can affect dynamic toe. Offset can affect static camber, as it changes the effective spring rate.

 

Nope never aligned since I got it in May. It's been driving great so didn't see a need, especially with only 4k miles.

 

If you decide to get it checked, update the thread please. My OCD is curious..

You'd be surprised...
They don't come with the greatest alignment and your bushings have settled in. I'd at least have it checked. Dealers usually have a quick check station in the drop-off bay; hardly takes any time at all. Plus alignments are covered for the first 12 months.

 

If your current tires are wearing evenly, save your money!
