So folks I'm puzzled about the Eco / Fuel consumption display. Mine gives instant info about gas consumption and gives me the average speed since starting but the time since starting doesn't show. Is that a problem or is there some hidden switch or button that needs to be pushed?

While stopped with the ignition on, you can program what shows up on the center display.

Thanks, I've played with programming the instrument cluster display. The one that puzzles me is the center console display. Specifically the Eco display ( p. 19) in the nav manual which refers me to 109 in the owners manual. I have a feeling that the elapsed time since the engine was started isn't working.

I had a similar issue on my 2020 TRD Sport except mine didn't display Elapsed Time Since Start on the center display. Took it to the dealer (under warranty still). The first problem they found was a defective ECM. It is/was a known issue that some of those particular ones have a defect. They replaced it with a known good one. However, it didn't resolve the Elapsed Time Since Start on the center display not working. They contacted the "magic all-knowning techs" and determined that the problem was in the instrument panel not relaying this information to the center display. They ended up having to replace the entire instrument panel. They needed to keep my Tacoma until this was completed since the mileage was entered on the new one and the truck couldn't be driven ANY additional miles before it was replaced.
Long story ending.......maybe your problem is just with the instrument panel unless yours also doesn't work it on the center display.

Thanks, this is exactly the problem I have and it is on the same model truck. I'm also still on warranty. Was there any kind of service bulletin or other paper to which I can refer my dealer? I'll need to think about scheduling as taking the truck out of service for a while can't really happen during snow season here in Maine as it works clearing my road.

Oh! That is weird. It looks like @freddie69 has you covered though.

    Good luck with the fix!

No, there wasn't a TSB or other paper that I know of on this. I just mentioned the issue to the service rep when I took it in for one of the Toyota Care service times. He told me afterward that THEIR technicians were not aware of the faulty ECM issue until they started trying to resolve my complaint but evidently Toyota was aware of it because they told the technicians about it and the resolution for it. Once they replaced that and it still did not resolve the issue, they contacted the "magic all-knowing techs" to help them figure out the problem and determined it involved the instrument panel.

They wouldn't have had to keep my truck if the replacement of the ECM resolved the problem. I just had to wait until the new ECM arrived and schedule another appointment. It was only when it was determined that the instrument panel was the true cause after the ECM was installed that they had to keep it until that was replaced due to the mileage match up requirement.
