Has anyone bought any of the products from Gear Tech Customs? I bought a pair and concerned about being scammed.

You didn't get scammed. Gear Tech is just extremely slow with their orders. I didn't get an email for about a week. Didn't get the splash guards for a few months.

Well worth the wait and $$ I bought the splash guards last summer, and will definitely be getting the fender liners (if I can ever decide on a bumper)

I put in an order on 3/21, got confirmation of the order, but hasn't shipped yet. I think we may be dealing with a one man operation, so patience is the name of the game I guess. Glad to hear positive feedback on the product from other owners.

Trust me, it’s worth the wait. Cody runs a small shop and gets his hands dirty. I waited about 3 mos for my Fend-X Liners

Call the number on the website he really lacks communication but the splash guards are good and worth it.

I did, Its been a few business weeks since I contacted him. I’m not use to more communication from a business, especially right now with the varying levels of state shutdowns. Posts, Instagram, Facebook, all have no activity add that to no communication... I just don’t want to be left high and dry is all.

Just received my slash guards mine after 6 weeks, was even notified after 4 weeks they might be delayed and got another notice when they shipped. Not bad given how how everything else is being impacted by the Covid 19 shutdowns. I’m really pleased with them. At least 2X thicker than stock and good fit.
Thanks to Cody and other small specialty producers who take the time and effort to market their custom designs to rest of us on Tacoma World.

The product is very good, I did have two of the upgraded rivet heads break when I installed them.

I’m pretty sure this guy waits till he has a batch order before they are made.

It took 6 weeks for my splash guards.

In today’s business world that’s way to long.

Yes this product does take quite a while for some rubber splash guards. I will say they are great material but shouldnt take that long. Took many phone calls to confirm on my order and shipping issues as well.

Installed my splash guards a year ago (ordered them Black Friday 2019) and they’re falling apart. This vehicle was exposed to negative degree temps during the Texas winter storms but has been garaged since July 2021. So 7 months of exposure to the elements.

They’re splitting like that around shock towers and all the mounting holes are tearing.

Dry rot is the nemesis of all things rubber.

During the manufacturing process, protective compounds are added to our rubber formulation. Rubber that gets regular use will retain its flexibility and molecular properties. For example, tires that are driven on regularly are more resistant to rot compared to tires that are rarely used. Regular use causes the tire to flex and compress, pushing this protective compound to the surface. This doesn’t happen with unused tires, so the rubber is more vulnerable to damage such as fading, cracking and oxidation. Similar concept to the rubber trim around vehicle windows. Any exposure to extreme high or low temperatures, or prolonged exposure to UV radiation can all cause rubber’s molecular chains to start breaking down.

Rubber is a polymer that needs to be wiped clean periodically. Removing grime build up and restoring protective inhibitors to the material will significantly prolong the life expectancy of Rubber. We run these at high elevation year round
