It’s been hard to find time to hunt much this season. Finally got a shot at a decent doe the other night.

Actually I told a story somewhere on TW about my buddy wanting me to stretch out his boat.
Hasn’t been on the water but registered in two years.
It was mid Oct. and that was the latest I ever wet a line.
White caps and all that but I caught a couple..
Did so much work on that, and the trailer, before I even took it out…

 

Well just got back from the mountain. moved a stand for late muzzle. 1st time ive HAD to use 4WD not for snow in a long time. drove up to it. alot steeper than pic looks. reminded me of the younger days.saw 2 bucks in our field going in.my stand is in the woods pic with no truck. gotta zoom to see it. and my son got to his place in ILL. starts hunting tommorow.

WMA muzzleloader hunt started today. Sat in soooooo much deer sign and acorns. Didn’t see a damn thing. Only heard 4 shots all day, and it’s either sex. Went to the check station and 4 does and a 10 point were checked out today. That’s it. There was a buck only hunt 2 weeks ago and 92 bucks were checked out over 3 days. Deer used to be EVERYWHERE on this WMA, but I think they’ve about let them hunt this place out

I took both the kids hunting Tuesday afternoon, I was looking through the binos and my 6 year old daughter ask "what do you see?" I said "everything but a deer" and without missing a beat she says "do you see a gazelle?"

 

Thinking of getting the Ruger AR556 and eventually the Ruger American competition pistol. Just something new to shoot at the range. I already have my hunting guns.

 

Back from the processor/butcher shop. I didn't know until recently that the owner of the shop lost his wife a few years ago. I just mentioned to a co-worker that he didn't seem himself since 4 years ago I last seen him. That's when I learned. Word was he wasn't going to process deer this year. I thanked his daughter in law for them deciding to go ahead with it. Guess my feeling that it was a little spendy but worth it to support a small town family around the holidays. About 70 pounds worth...

 

ILL hunt update for my son. turned warm behind the front that went thru. here is this mornings spot. saw like 8 slickheads through out the morning.
