Hey TW, I see mixed postings about the 3rd gens (2020) with a pioneer head unit being desirable. Is there a specific reason for this? Do people want them for their 2nd gens or? Any insight on what to expect on what people pay for them?

At the point of adding new subs etc and want to upgrade, debating if it's worth keeping with a LOC or if I should sell this.

    Thanks in advance!

It's not worth much. You and I both know factory HUs are all junk. That being said, I'll buy it from you for $50 :D

    haha!

I didn't even know the newer 3rd gens came with a Pioneer unit. I would assume folks want it because it is still OEM, has Entune 3.0 (which is better than 2.0), and has Apple & Android Carplay.

For reference on pricing, ExtremeTerrain is selling the new ones for about $2k, and "open box" for $1k. Dunno if that helps any.

Sheesh even close to 1k used would be shocking to me. It has decent output to JL c1 components so far, I definitely feel like pioneer did a good job with it but the lack of dedicated pre outs may be an issue when my ported enclosure gets here. Currently have lc2 running to sealed subs, but it's going to be rolling the dice on a ported box to sound good or not. If people are legitimately paying close to 1k then looks like I'm getting a new HU cost covered. Might not look factory, but that's not a big deal to me to each their own. I honestly don't even use the carplay/android auto features since I normally just play music off a separate DAP :)

I would also check ebay for pricing. IDK if you would get the full $1k, but I'm thinking you could get a pretty penny.

But if all else fails, my $50 offer still stands :D:D:D

I think 2020 is when they added more features such as android auto and apple car play (I could be wrong). There are some folks who like to keep everything OEM to maintain the flow of the interior but want to upgrade from the earlier model radios and keep all the options you can change with the vehicle from the head unit. I personally think the one that came in my 2018 TRDOR is junk but it would have been nice to have apple car play.

yea mine does have andoid auto/carplay and like I said, it does sound great with aftermarket speakers anything pioneer is top tier but still restrictive for audio tuning. If you're interested I just ordered an aftermarket radio shoot me a pm :)
