so this morning i was in a wreck i was hit on the passenger side wheel area and a police car was in front of me one of those super reinforced ones and i was pushed up into hitting him that’s the damage on the front from his bumper. the air bags were deployed and i’m thinking that it’s totaled, but unsure. I just got this truck and i would be super sad to not be able to drive it again. Sorry for the poor picture this is the best i have. Also I am not sure if this would affect it, but I have farmers insurance.

Going to be to hard to tell from this but airbags is not a good sign.

Airbags and frame damage are biggies but glad you're OK. (assuming, not wanting you to legally make a statement)

Usually 9 out of 10 times airbags go off it’s totaled. I don’t think any insurance company wants the risk of fixing all the wires and sensors that go along with the airbags.

I know it's a different atmosphere now with vehicles but do you really want to keep one that may have problems down the road?

I'd be more worried about seamlessly getting into a new one.

That's probably got some solid value in this current market which might leave enough for insurance to fix it. At this point, it's a guessing game without knowledge of the extent of damage. What a bummer to go through. Glad you came out relatively unscathed but make sure you did. Been to a Doc, yet? Give it a couple days for the aches and pains to come on.

Did the tow take it to a shop of your choice?

the police called the tow before I even got a chance and it’s at their lot wouldn’t let me have any say in it, insurance is taking it to a ‘safe undisclosed location’ for the appraisal and I assume if they don’t say it’s totaled I get to chose a shop. I already have a place that my family has used before so i’m hoping everything will work out and I can have it fixed there. As for an physical injuries there’s nothing that some advil can’t fix. I did get into an accident one time with atv and your right those aches and pains took a couple of days to show up! Thanks so much for all your help on this

I was in an accident last month with my 3rd gen. The damage looked really similar to your truck, and all the airbags deployed. Insurance totaled it. I was devastated, but it ended up being ok. Insurance settled me for 8,000 dollars more than I paid for the truck 3 years ago. I ended up getting a newer 3rd gen, with less miles, and now my monthly payments are about half of what they used to be. I hope it works out similar for you.

9 out of 10 times huh? Couldn't be more wrong. Don't make statements that you have no clue about. Air bags get replaced all the time. Frames get replaced too. All depends on value of vehicle vs cost of repairs. Some things cannot be repaired though, like firewall damage.

I'm glad you are okay. These trucks are built solid and takes a lot to total the frame on these, any reputable body shop should be able to inspect the frame and build it back. The rest is all cosmetics and can be repaired including airbags.

I went thru a similar incidence a few years ago (mine was much worse - I was hit head on by a side by side on the trails) and just by looking at your pic, I doubt the truck's frame is damaged, however it needs to be physically examined at a shop. Not sure what your insurance coverage situation is and if Farmer's is haggling you but have you also considered contacting a lawyer to represent you?

Hope things work out for you. Good luck!

    Driver side?

Nice the LEO was present. Best witness to have in case the other driver tried denials.

It looks like the aluminum crush zone did its job. It appears the steel framework is good but there's a lot more to it. Any damage to the firewall?

Ok, that doesn't look as bad. Unfortunately it's more uncertain now whether to be totaled or not.

    My vote is 'no'.
