    Hello!

EDIT UPDATE: “ I am dumb, so here are some photos with some new LED license plate lights, excuse the rest.”

Pretty new to the platform and just wanted to provide some quick info about the License plate lights with the new 2022 models rolling out.

The bulb socket is not the same from 2016-2021.

I Purchased the Morimoto LED license plate lights and they don’t fit because of the different socket types (My bad for lack of research I guess). I assumed the 2022 model had many of the same attachments as a 2021, the latest.

I have attached pictures to show you what I am talking about.

The 2022 is a plug type connector. I can’t find the current size guide to let you guys know, maybe you guys can help?

Just an FYI. We’ll see if any other wiring connectors may be different and I’ll be updating this thread along the way.

I ordered some v5 switchback turn signals, so lets hope its all good (plug and play with minor tapping in window switches).

What's wrong with the stock lights?

    They’re stock. LOL

    I LIKE LED’s.

I don’t like dim halogen lighting.

I don’t care about warranty cause I was a tech long ago, so i’ll pay to play and do it myself.

Easily goes back to stock because this is plug and play with a reputable brand such as Morimoto that looks equivalent/better than stock (subjective, obviously)

You're not supposed to unplug from the connector. Just twist and remove the bulb from the OEM housing and plug the Morimoto one in where the factory bulb was. Nothing has changed lol.

I couldn't give a flying fuck if the lights in the rear for my license plate are dull or not. What a fucking waste of fucking money! :boink:

Why are you so upset about what someone else is doing with their vehicle? Is he making you by them for your truck?

How embarrassing. In my defense, i was rushing to eat dinner.

here is the installed pics!! I’m an idiot for not even realizing the 194 bulb is removable for the Morimoto base.‍♂️

@Tocamo dang. Daddy issues much? There’s always someone angry on the forums lol Why replace anything in our trucks from factory? Why buy a new Tacoma than buying a used one and learning to fix it yourself so it runs and gets you to A to B. Ignorance at it finest. But I know you’re kidding. It’s not a waste of money if you enjoy it. I’ll just work a little hard to afford these useless things.

Yea so I fell for this last year and spent several hundred dollars changing all my lights inside and out to Precision LED. I did it because I like LED. Well, one by one the bulbs started flickering and failing over the course of a year. I’ve slowly been reinstalling the stock bulbs. All set with that BS.

I hear you. There are so many cheap variations out there. Just gotta shop around to see what works. I chose Meso interior map lights because of his rep and Morimoto for their rep. If they die out, then oh well, they won’t last forever. Environment plays an effect on lifespan.

I am going to actually buy some heat shrink wrap and put on some of that electrical grease that Morimoto instructs you to do when installing these (helps with warranty claim if you do have issues). They are exposed to the outside elements after all. Will update with more pics of the proper way to put these lights on!

Personally, modding license plate light provides minimal to null satisfaction. It’s at the bottom of my list or it may not even on my list.

They mess with the backup camera as well, next mod people do is turn them off in reverse.

Turning the license plate light off actually made it alot easier for me to see backing up by completely removing the glare. Its super nit picky, but its honestly my favorite thing I've done to it.

Replacing them with led housings is the way to go. My led bulbs just shit the bed. Currently running no tag lights because my halogen bulbs burned out when I reinstalled them

Here are some night time pics.

just noticed the glare on the dash screen when reversing. Not a big deal to me cause I only rely on it to stop in a parking space.

you can see it’s pretty damn bright
