I bought a used 2013 Baja Edition Tacoma last year, which included a custom rooftop tent rack that the previous owner ordered.

It has a Hi-Lift jack mount on it, but the two screws don't align with the holes in the jack. I have a classic 48" Hi-Lift jack, so it I can't imagine why it wouldn't fit. I confirmed that it was a Hi-Lift jack mount with the last owner, and he said he successfully mounted one in the past. Is there another brand of offroad jack he might have been using? I had a friend confirm that the holes don't align, so I'm pretty sure that I'm not making a dumb mistake.

    Thanks for reading.

FWIW I ran into this issue myself when I built a hi-lift mount for my truck. I have a two hi-lifts and they aren't dimensioned the same, one is much older, though.

Man, why on earth would they change the hole spacing? Insane. I don't want to buy an old one not only because I already have a new one, but because it seems like a possible safety concern to buy a twelve year old jack. (e.g. Was it left on the guys back porch for five years?)

Related question: does anyone know of a good DIY option for making an adapter? I have a five foot bed, so it doesn't quite fit parallel and I have to lay it diagonally. That's an issue when I have a big cooler or other gear in the bed.

I built my own mounts on a previous truck just using bolts and big wingnuts. Not the most elegant, but it worked.
Maybe you could do something similar mounting your jack laying on top of those stubs on the rack?
Use another jack mount on there? Or one of the quick fist type mounts?
On my homemade spacing I had one on the outside of a bar and one on the inside to make the spacing line up.
Then repurpose the existing mount for something else?
