Exactly why I despise plumbing work...never a job done without more than one trip to the store for parts!
Actually have gotten a little better at planning things out beforehand. But yeah, a unintended job and more stuff breaking...yeah...plumbing

 

sorry to hear, but a good plumbing job requires a minimum of 2 trips to orange or blue store...at least it does for me...

 

I suppose the good thing is that I'm a bit of a survivalist, so I have a few aquatainers full all the time. So atleast we have water to drink and wash hands etc.

 

Unintended plumbing is about as much fun as intended plumbing for me

The twelve year tank and parts warranty on my water heater expired in August of 2019. I've been putting off installing a new one...for one how I loathe plumbing work and 2, I would like to install a dealio thingamajig along with it this time...kind of like accumulator??? Drawing blank.
Oh another thing, many of these new water heaters have a bunch of features that I don't want.
Control your water temperature via Bluetooth on my phone yeah that sounds handy

I didn't even want to be able to do that with my smoker. No way I'd ever adjust the water heater.

Morning everyone! Getting ready to weld my new table together! It’s a 2x3 certiflat I bought during their Black Friday sale. Probably didn’t save any money on the table, but I got the stand alone with the table shipped for $1 which was cool.

I always buy more than needed and have a return trip for returns....

 

Even then, I find there's invariably at least one intermediate trip for, "Well, what the f*** was the idiot (usually me) who installed this thinking?" when you get things torn apart.

 

I lucked out and was working out of town for the last plumbing fiasco. A valve that I had replaced about 8-10 years prior started leaking at the threaded joint coming out of the wall. Water supply to toilet. I put all new stuff in the toilet tank and even a new wax ring. When I started this toilet overhaul, the supply valve was seized up. That was just for starters, so I pick up another valve and when unscrewing it half the threads come with it. Enter the Great invention of JB quick weld

Anyhow I was gone so wife just used local plumbing company.
And why on earth...maybe mixing copper and iron was a practice way back when??
I still have ceiling tiles to replace after the plumbing company finished.

 

Well, got everything put together, turned on the water and... I'm leaking from a 3/8 junction between pex and copper. The splice is a shark bite fitting. I'm about ready to give up and call a plumber

 

Where at on the fitting? Copper side? Pex side? Or in the middle?

 

Lots of people rave about that shark bite stuff. I'll pass and stick to copper.

Maintenance superintendent has been texting me for a couple of hours today, I got a feeling they're going to have me come in and make some pins for a excavator again.
Some call it time and a half. I cal it stroke and a half

 

My last plumbing adventure I bought 4 straight shut off valves for my toilets. Of course, one had to be a 90.

The one before that, I replaced the toilet in my mom's camper. The one she bought was supposed to directly replace the old one. Not so much. The closest hardware store was 30 miles away, I carried the toilet through the store to check fittings. Thankfully I got everything I needed in one shot and last I checked it still isn't leaking.

 

Two of these pins. Be difficult to milk it for 10 hours but that be enough to cover $$$ I spent on Christmas to me the past week.

 

Did it shear in the middle?

 

This one did back in 2019 is when I made replacement pin. This one was a store bought. I was a little nervous about making a pin for this application (excavator hinge or linkage) but guess it held up fine. I used Nichroloy, better than run of the mill carbon steel.
Now they might need 2 more for a different attachment.
What they lose the last one and spare I made them?
