Toyota TRD OEM lift kit

Not yet. Truck is all done, lifted, tired and wheeled, Getting the tap made so the install is clean w no splicing or cutting.

 

So does the OEM lift kit make it the same height as the factory PRO height? My son has a 17 off road so we were wondering. Thanks.

 

Others may correct me here - but I believe it’s (TRD lift) taller, but also depends on year. Once I got the tires/wheels/lift done I parked it next to a ‘20 Pro, and it was quite a bit taller - but the 285/70/17’s added some too to be fair to the look, but didn’t measure them. The ‘22 should sit a bit taller tho - haven’t seen one in person yet.

 

Anyone get this installed with the stock grille left on? I realize they use the new grill to accommodate the TSS sensor, but I like my stock grill better than the Pro style.

 

So my 2022 TRD OR automatic transmission arrived this past Monday and they started installing the TRD lift on Tuesday. I picked it up Wednesday.
I’m coming from a 2015 Sienna so to me I seem high. I know it’s not an extreme lift, but I am very happy with it. The truck is leveled and it rides perfectly. Not as smooth as my old minivan and not as smooth as my wife’s Highlander but smooth for a truck. I’ve put 200 miles on the truck as of a little bit ago. I enjoy driving it.
After Christmas I will be upgrading the wheels and tires. Just a size up to 265/75/16 I believe. Who knows what I will do with a blank check at the tire shop.
I stopped by the dealership while they weee installing the lift. I ordered this in June so they knew I had to come look at it and they were very accommodating. I talked about the fog lights and they ended up leaving them in. Speaking of parts I got all of my take offs. I plan on selling them at a later time to recoup some funds.
No weird shakes or noises. I’ve traveled interstate’s, highways and country back roads. Haven’t been off pavement yet.

 

have tried to order just the shocks and struts and have had 3 different dealerships cancel the order. Those of you that got to get them before toyota caught on i'm jealous.

 

Got my lift and 285/75/16 Duratracs installed on tuesday. Im really happy with the look and the ride, only have 360 miles on the truck but the "TRD tuned" bilsteins seem to ride way better than the stock OR bilsteins. Heres a before and after!

 

Any rubbing?

 

None so far! I haven't flexed it out much or anything since its not really a wheeler but on no rubbing on full lock or steep driveways or anything. Once i have 1k+ miles ill probably do some flex tests, but I have a dedicated wheeler for that haha

 

Got my topper installed and also the TRD 2/1 lift done by the dealer. Rides great and like the looks of the topper. The problem is I have 1/2 squat in the rear over the front height. What’s the best way to level the truck now?

Considering this for a newly purchased 22 TRD OR (just picked it up last Monday.) Would be looking to upgrade to 4Runner TRD Bronze 17 wheels sometime next year, open to suggestions if anybody has a favorite tire to pair with those (would need to handle city driving too.) Anyways, I'm in Central Ohio and called a local dealer and they were at $2676.27 out the door for the lift kit (incl. tax and an estimated 8 hours of labor.) It sounded like they had done a few and were finding that labor was consistently beyond the 4-5 hours Toyota estimated. Anybody in the area finding anything better? Seems a little high based on what I've seen others in this thread share.

 

Tires are pretty easy, the Wildpeak is very popular and what I run in the SL load rating for the softest ride and they weight less. A lot of guys run the K02s but I'm not a fan. The tread pattern was designed in what, 1976 I think! It doesn't sound like you want super aggressive so the Duratracs and other are out. If you want a less aggressive tire than the Wildpeaks then the Toyo or Nitto ATs are good and very similar to each other.

on my ‘21 DCSB with a RSI Smartcap … have handled the city (Vancouver BC area) and mountains, sand, snow, deep snow, ice and wet snow BS with slush, very well.

performance in rain and standing water is very good.

slipping is limited in hard pack snow, and I’ve had little slip in powder.

black ice…. It’s a bit of how you drive it on that stuff.

 

New member here after lurking in the shadows and reading the pros/cons of doing the factory lift on the Tacoma's. Thought I would chime-in since Ya'all helped me make an informed decision..

So, I almost didn't do it but, I pulled the trigger on it for my '22 TRD Off Road and couldn't be happier. I was initially very reluctant and was concerned about vibration, reverse rake, MPG hit due to the increased height. No issues at all. I also went for it and had them install 17x7 SEMA TRD wheels, and 265 70R17 Duratrac tires (coulda gone bigger but MPG was a concern). Thrilled with the upgrades. My truck feels more responsive and solid cruising down the road and looks like a truck should look. I also just ordered a set of Westin HDX drop steps from a local vendor because the truck sits higher and having a step makes it easier for my passengers to climb into.

So, cost of the lift installed was $2500 including alignment. 12/12,000 warranty since I have about 1k miles on the truck. Dropped it off at 8a was ready at 4p. Fog lights remained on the truck. Overall, I'm pleased. If someone is considering the install, I'd recommend chatting with the shop foreman beforehand (I did) to get a sense of if they know what they are doing.

Here is my 21 AG Sport had the lift installed right away that way full warranty 36000 plus the add to 100000. Have 3500 miles on it now and so far its been great. I went with 275/55/17 Hankook at3 the skinny's. I would say talk the tech because if they have no clue it will show. I also made sure they left the fog lights and re-aimed the headlights as they do not have re aiming as a part if the install for what ever reason.
Only rubbing was slight in the front air damn just rounded them off slightly.

Speedo ended up right on with all the roadside radar signs and currently getting 18.5 mpg combined which is way better then my old tank the FJ.

 

I need some help.

I have a 2017 trd sport long bed with a ARE bed topper I'm looking to do a 2in lift. I've read most of the thread and instructions and noticed this kit is not recommended on long beds or pre2020 models. I'm sure most of it has to do with the added tech since I've seen on here some pre2020 shortbed models install the kit. However, is lifting a long bed model different?

I'm able to purchase the struts seperate, I'm thinking of adding a AAL or leaf pack in the rear instead of a block. What kind of leaf pack would you recommend for someone that has a topper with a uptown roof rack and usually carries a 100lb kayak in the bed and tows a full car trailer with a 91 civic?

Is there anything else I need to do to my long bed to when I do this mod?
