Gonna get her a dogsledding experience. We get each other stuff on trips but prefer to give each other experiences for christmas/birthdays

We've been married for 47 years - generally we don't exchange gitts any more; just get things we need.

Every year around October/Novemberish the wife and I start sending each other links to stuff we’d like for Christmas. This year i just sent her links to new suspension for the new truck. She sends me a bunch of necklace/yoga pants/girly things (total value about the same as the OMEs) then she starts hitting me with the: “thats a lot for me to spend especially because we have things we need to get for the new baby”. So this year shes getting necklace/yoga pants/girly things and all of the stuff on the list for the new baby.

They really are smarter than they look.

I wish more families were like yours.
Maybe one single gift, but it has to be under a certain dollar amount, like $20 and have meaning or be hand made by yourself.

My family is pretty cringe with the whole christmas decorations and gif giving thing. It bothers me a lot. Just the thought of being expected to give and expecting to get gifts is stressful and not what the holidays should be about. Consumerism has ruined so many things in this world.

I made the suggestion to my family to have a smaller dinner that won't net leftovers for the next month, most of which get thrown away, and chill out on the christmas stuff.

so.... basically my family thinks I am a liberal now. They are praying it away though, all will be well for sure...

    Yeah
I got my wife literally everything she asked for and every hint she dropped plus some. Fitting for a TW thread I got her a set of diode dynamics SSC3’s for her [shutters] Nissan Pathfinder and I actually just installed them today.

Exactly. I buy up a few scratchers and we all pull 2 or 3 out of a hat and scratch and see if any of us win.
Don't wanna go off on a tangent - but Christ was born in like August - this whole December thing harks back to some
monks wanting to lure the kids away from those pagans who celebrated the shortest day of the year and whoo-hoo planting
season was on the way -

If anything, it's time to put Christ back into Christmas -

We wouldn't still be married after 47 years if I didn't know that she would not be happy with that.

Seat Jackers, her legs that long? Do you feel they are truly worth it?

Plus hide the starting key, she will be out there for the first half hour trying to figure out how to start it.

Get her a clip on book light, she can read in the dark and not disturb you while you sleep.

Oh wait here's something cool - actually have a set of these..
    Artiste TV Headphones...

Now you can listen at your comfort level while anyone else in the house hears nothing...
Don't want to miss a call of a football game while doing something else, or stay up late, or listen while
someone is reading?... had mine about 2 years now and they are great with a decent 'range' too.. I can assist
with something on the back patio and then race-in to see the pick-6 replay LOL... all the while the TV volume is
set to zero - battery life ( sits on a re-charger ) is still 6-8 hours per charge, actually mine have never lost all
    the charge.

Damn things saved my marriage... hmmmm perhaps I should mis-place them.
