Thoughts on Rockville powered sub?

Looking to add a little thump to my sound and came across this:

Also looking for a cheap-ish amp to power the doors, specifically in the back. My 3 year old spends most of our car rides yelling "Daddy, make the song super super loud!" Would really like to find something for under $150 (under $100 would be amazing).

I already did front and rear Kicker CS speakers in the doors. Still on the factory head unit (probably won't be changing it out). Planning to also do the tweeters some day.

 

That looks like it would quite a bit of thump. Although you may find it a bit of an operation to fabricate installation for it.

While you may want to keep your OEM head unit, I think you might find a lot of options out there (especially in the Android HU marketplace) that can provide a decent 4x50w output at roughly the price of an external standalone amp. I believe those CS are fairly high efficiency speakers that should produce good sound volume with an upgraded HU.

Another potential low-cost, low-effort install is the number of self-contained sub units that can install under seat. I have the

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0082YUR7M?_encoding=UTF8 under my driver seat. It's only an 8", but gives plenty of thump for what I need. The install still takes some effort, but is very doable. It will protrude slightly from the rear of your front seat if you ride with the seat forward. If you're like me (6'2") then the seat is all the way back and it's covered.

 

An underseat sub would definitely be nice - I had looked at the Kicker Hideaway but it's a little more than I wanted to spend. I'm not quite that tall but I do have the seat most of the way back.

Would most aftermarket HUs be compatible with my anytime backup/front camera?

 

Looking for a good bang for your buck Skar audio is good, I run it in my truck and impress with it for the price and a couple other vehicles. the Skar Audio - SK-M4004D | 400 Watt Class D 4-Channel Car Amplifier is a good amp it also has high level input so you can use a factory HU.
As for aftermarket HU with the anytime camera if its a pnp wiring, It should work as long as you get the harness adpaters to go from factory to aftermarket

 

That's a bit of a two part problem. The first part is in getting the signal itself into the HU. The vast majority have conventional RCA signal level inputs. If your camera(s) have the same, then you can at least get the signal in. The second part is in the software/firmware that provides the viewing and control. Some of the conventional HUs have good basic rear view activation from the backup lead in the harness. Front camera can be a little more tricky. With some of the Android HUs, there are a wide range of options out there. The good news is you can pretty much have it your way, but the bad news is you have to play the role of the systems integrator. If you like to tinker, it can be a fun project. If you "just want it to work", then you may be happier staying in the walled garden of the traditional suppliers and living with the imposed constraints.
