Anyone know where to get replacement parts for a bedstep? Purchased from someone on here and it was missing the top attachment part that connects to the truck. Toyota parts department says you have to buy the entire assembly.

Try contacting AMP Research and see if you can get it from them.

I contacted him, he said he gave me all the parts. But it was obviously removed from the truck at the easiest point and the actual part connecting to the truck went with the truck when he sold it. Bummer!!! So far no luck getting a replacement, just my luck but that’s what I get for being cheap and looking for a deal

Invite the guy who sold it to you to this thread so others can be wary of buying from him. Sorry you got took, hope you find the part.

Thanks, it could have been an honest mistake, maybe he didn’t remember the install or didn’t install himself and removed from the lowest point not knowing. Either way no sweat, just looking for a solution at this point. Thanks!

Ok yeah, but if he had a little integrity he’d refund your money for the large paperweight he sold you. If you can’t get the part to make it functional, then you didn’t get what you paid for.

That's brutal. It's such an odd organic shape that I think it would be difficult to fabricate one. I'd be curious if Amp Research can provide the part. There are also some vehicle specific shims that are part of the assembly. So be sure to locate that as well.

If you can't get the part, buy a new one, but maybe you can fab a bracket to mount the partial one somewhere else or another truck.

    FYI

That part is the part that snapped in half when I was rear ended in a minor fender bender. Bed step snapped off right there and it took most of the damage. I picked up the step and put it in my truck and when insurance fixed it they put a brand new one on. Not available to get just that part despite the rest of the step being just fine.

Not saying that is what happened in your case, he could still have that part on his truck and does not know because it is black and looks like it belongs on the truck, but it could also be the case. It could be because it is a PITA to remove the bolts from frame and the two that connect that part to the step are what you have to install when you buy the part and install it yourself... I have the install instructions somewhere and they are floating around on this site. It would be worth it to contact the seller and ask about it again.

I threw my old step out as it is worthless without the part that connects to the bed. Edit and No, I am not the one who sold it to him in case you are wondering, I would not do that:).

If you're buying a new one, it shouldn't be on your dime. You already paid for one. He should make it right.

Yeah, that sucks and I am sorry for you. But, the bed step is an awesome mod and I suggest you search around for the best price and free shipping on Toyota Parts.com and select a dealership with the best price to get it. Black Friday had awesome prices and they come up on sale time to time.
