New rear shocks for 4 in blocks

    So i bought my truck a year ago. And finally got around to getting the recall for the leaf spring replaced after waiting for the parts to become available. My truck has the pro comp 6 in lift on it. And the old set up only had a 2"block and an AAL in the rear. So yhe rear always sat a little lower. But i can't stand the squatted look and my mechanic suggested a 4 in block and longer shocks. Been searching till i was blue in the face on trying to figure out the right shocks to get with the 4 in blocks. Thanks for the help

    If your "mechanic" suggested 4" blocks, they're not actually a mechanic.

    If you run 4" blocks, you might as well just take the shocks off and toss them. It'll be cheaper that way.

    @TacoTuesday1 what do you suggest. I've never dealt with lifts before. So trying to learn the best way to get my truck leveled in the rear

    A HD leaf pack is what I used to level out the constant load I carried around. Do a search here on TW with "OME leaf pack" and there should be plenty on info for you to start.

    I don't see the point in going over 3". The rare few that do, use a different subframe type of thing in front, and spindles. Usually from Rough Country. Rough Country translated means "Crap"

    It's an independent front suspension. The stock parts can't handle high angles from a lot of lift.
    Lift is usually to gain clearance off roading. Meanwhile, the people who put the above kind of lifts, don't off road or have other off road mods.

    Normally people put taller springs in the front, with matching shocks, and a leafpack in the rear. Such as Icon RXT, OME/Old Man Emu, and so on.
    I suppose a person could put small blocks on top of that if they wanted to. Like 2.5" gained from a rear leafpack and a small block added on top of it.
    At that point it's just raising the center of gravity on the truck making it handle worse and more prone to flip.

    And other things that would need to be extended to not tear/rip when lifted. For example longer rear brake lines. For when the rear is lifted, or droop ability is added with suspension upgrades.

    You get what you pay for. The more you pay, the higher the quality. If blocks are $100, then it's not going to be a good quality ride.
    A stock 2nd gen with pencil thin worn out shocks already rides like shit. Blocks will either keep it just as bad, or even worse. Not something I imagine anyone would want.

    if you put blocks onto a stock leaf(3?)pack it won't improve load carrying capacity whether it's towing, carrying heavy stuff, or a camper shell/weight in/on the bed
