Random, but I didn't realize it was also spelled tipi until recently. It just looks weird but that's how I usually see it written here

 

I’ve never seen it spelled tipi. But they were mostly in the northern part of the state. Down here the Apache lived in wickiups. Before them the Anasazi lived in cliff dwellings or caves. Now they all own a piece of the casinos and live in condos.

Interesting. A lot of the signage here is written in both English and Salish so I guess that could make "tipi" a more literal translation of their language but I haven't gone so far as to ever look it up
