Just noticed this after taking the trash out and coming back into the garage... Seems as though a parking lot good samaritan tried to help me get new fender flares.... and or quarter panel...

Is this something I can just bang out without risking cracking the paint.
Both panel and fender flare are bent.

    Thanks kindly stranger

A good paintless dent repair guy can take that out. If you were in Vegas , I would have the right guy for you .

If the paint is not cracked and the metal is not creased, try paint-less dent removal (PDR).

That is completely open on the back side. Give it a gentle whack with your fist.

PDR should be able to get it out or come very close verses a body shop repair :spending:

I was gonna try a rubber mallet and a little piece of 2x4... not sure if the wood is necessary, but I have some elder statesmen do that back in the day.

You have a nice truck. Have a professional PDR tech push it out. It shouldn’t cost all that much.

That can be too sharp edged. Try your hands first, then work your way up.

Probably dumb question, but would it matter if I were to warm up the garage? Or ensure the shop is warm?
Feels like cold metal will be harder to work with...

    Yeah.
Yeah, this, don't want to risk putting a crease in it.

Put some good gloves on and push on it with the heel of your hand. You should be able to get it out. I bent my daughter's fender back into shape just using my hands, no banging.

Nah. That's for plastic, esp clips, and bumpers.

OP, use the boiling water technique. It's the cheapest thing to do first.

You can go to Harbor Freight tools and get suction cups in different sizes that that will help pull the dent out. I've had varying sucess with them. Good luck!

    It's complicated.
Ummm. What is this "boiling water technique" of which you speak?
