@WickedAx and others, I'm really interested in this product and would like to know what HU are known to be compatible. I think I can figure out the fuse / power source part of it, but the part I'm concerned about is the mic signal level. I'm looking at the Dasaita PX6 HU, but would be open to others.

What HU are known to be compatible with the tombit mic adapter?

    thanks!

    Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have been really considering placing an order for an adapter for my CTH PX6 for a few months now. But these mentions of static and poor audio quality have me second guessing it. To those that have purchased the adapter in the past, have you experienced vastly improved audio quality after installing the adapter? And are these issues mentioned above few and far between?

@MiTacoTRD and @Taco_Coma, in an effort to get to the bottom of this, figured I'd post this in here so we can all comment/diagnose as opposed to trying to go back and forth with private messages.

Are you able to provide me with answers to the following...
    1. When you say you are hearing feedback/noise...
      • Is it electrical noise, indicative of a ground loop or is it audio feedback, similar to the kind you'd experience if you placed a microphone in front of a PA speaker or toward a stage monitor? Are you hearing an echo/deep reverb effect?

      • When are you hearing the feedback/noise? Is it only on calls and if so, who is hearing the noise (you, the person on the other end or both?) Are you able to install a voice recorder app on your head unit and record your voice and play it back to see what the audio quality is like?

      • Is the audio working for Google Assistant or Siri requests?

    2. Are you running an iPhone or Android phone? How are you connecting to your head unit (cable or Bluetooth?)

    3. Are you using CarPlay, Android Auto or neither (e.g. in the case of the Joying head units, those aren't Android Auto head units, but rather head units that run Android.)

    1. It’s a feedback and scratchy noise (how my GF explained it) that can only be heard by the other person on the other line.
Audio both works on Google assistant and Siri request.

    2. Using an iPhone 13 PRO with latest iOS firmware.

    3. Connects via wireless CarPlay and Bluetooth on Pioneer HU.

    1. I don’t hear the noise it’s whoever is on the phone with me. They say it’s either a static or sounds like some kind of machine is running.
    Siri seems to work

    2. iPhone I’ve tried the cable and Bluetooth, you hear the noise no matter what.
    3. I was using car play.

if you want to call me so you can hear it lmk

I had a similar issue when I installed it with a Kenwood. The volume was either too low, or I was scratchy and/or echoey to the person on the other line to the point where they couldn’t understand me. I messed with the mic settings a bunch on the HU and could never get it dialed in. However, the Kenwood was a refurb, and I had other issues with it, so I just chalked it up to that and took it out.

Edit: I did not require a 3.5mm adapter.

@Taco_Coma, yeah, let's setup a call. If I can hear the noise that may help in diagnosing the problem. I'll reach out via PM. Thanks!

iPhone. Noise was heard by both an iPhone user and a landline user.

I've seen it asked in the thread, but haven't seen it answered as to whether or not this will work with the Daisaita PX6.
The Dasaita head unit mic works, but I'd pay for the obvious improvement this would provide.

    TIA

I might have found a remedy in Bluetooth settings. (I’ve only tried this with iPhone 13 PRO and Puoneer AVIC NEX head unit).

First, don’t connect to CarPlay, so turn of your iPhones wifi if you have wireless CarPlay. So it won’t connect automatically.

    Second, make a call.
While on a Bluetooth call, a mic VOL icon should appear in you head units screen.
That mic vol icon is for the other lines/persons volume output/sensitivity. This icon settings will not appear if your connected thru CarPlay.

Then, Turn it to the lowest setting. (Head units may vary) mine has three levels. And the lowest one produced the cleanest transmission (According to the other line). Hope this helps anyone.

    Update:
It seems that this only worked for me on Bluetooth calls. I tried calling via CarPlay and the problem persisted.

I order this on Monday and arrived on Thursday via USPS Priority mail. Just installed it under 10 minutes.

Everyone says I sound crystal clear and not distant like before.

Now all my stock components such as Rear Camera, GPS, USB port and steering wheel controllers except for SiriusXM Radio Antenna work with my aftermarket head unit.

Thank you for making this plug in play kit!

What Head unit are you running with this OE mic adapter? Are you using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay? Or just Bluetooth? Mine has CarPlay. The calls are better from just Bluetooth without connecting CarPlay. I believe the culprit is CarPlay for not having clear transmission. TIA.

This is the head unit I am using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KD68BZT

I have tested Apple CarPlay(wireless) and Bluetooth with the head unit Android OS. In my tests all the calls are clearer. Haven't tested Android Auto yet.
