Recommended Lift Kit

A plow is quite heavy. If you want to optimize your truck for the plow, go 700lb springs. The problem is that it might ride too high with the plow off. If your coil springs have adjustable preload you might be able to make it work ok in both cases.

A few people on here have plows. You could search the forum for their experiences.

 

If you’re ordering from Headstrong Off-road, I would ask them about that too. I would assume 600 would be just fine judging by reading this thread, but I am no where near qualified to be giving you advice lol.

 

Dude buy a $500 truck and toss the plow on their. It will pay for itself after the first storm. Plows do so much damage to transmissions, ball joints, etc…

Yea I am. It's not like I'm going to be doing XX number of residential properties and small business. I'm just doing our driveway, 17-18 feet wide and 90 feet long, and about half that size for the offshoot on the side of our garage.

Some other good reasons are I'm getting up in age (hint: I was born the day Dwight D Eisenhower was sworn in as President) and the cold, wind and weight of the snow blower has become an issue. Not too mention I have had two health issue come up this year, Heart and Hernia surgery, yesterday.

Buying a 500.00 truck is like buying someone's else's problems. I don't want to have an issue with a 500.00 truck not starting with snow in my driveway. It would be parked outside and if it didn't start I'm not going to be out there in the freezing cold trying to get it started. And a plow for this 500.00 truck, put a 5-6K dollar plow on it? Or go with a used plow for it. Used plow also brings it own set if issues. First off getting it installed, $$, then if it doesn't work or even better breaks while I'm plowing $$$ to fix or get it in a workable state. I don't want all of these headaches.

So yes, I'm going to plow our driveway with my new truck. I'm be the one in our neighborhood nice and warm getting rid or the snow on our driveway in record time.

 

^ Yeah I get it. I live at the end of a 1/4 mile long cul-de-sac with one other house. My neighbor and I snowblow the driveway, he’s a little nutty like me and enjoys it as well. I’m sure when I’m older I won’t be doing that lol.

You’re only doing your driveway, no biggie….but I’m sure your neighbors might reach out to you once they see your new plow.

Friend of mine plows during the winter and has 3 or 4 trucks out during storms. He’s plowing with full-size diesel trucks and last year he made virtually no money because all of his trucks had large repair bills after the season.

My other friend bought a 2500HD with a plow on it. The truck is beat to shit, but it runs.

 

I'd recommend the Bilstein 5100 front and rear with your stock coils which are rated about 700lbs.(IIRC) Since you're not doing any hardcore offroading that will be a great set up. Also get some SPC UCA's Set them at "F" or "G" to get your alignment correct and spend your money on a nice set of wheels and tires!

 

Originally was going to go with the Bilstein but the 6112. One thing I didn't like was the adjustability of them. I don't have or have any intentions of getting a spring compression tool. I like the way I can adjust them if I want to.

The UCA maybe next year. But from what I've read and understand you really don't need new UCA unless you go over 3 inch lift. I just want a 2 inch lift.

And I already have a nice set of wheels and tires, RBP Spike in Gloss black 18X9 with Nitto Ridge Grappler 285X60.
