What are you’re special/favorite foods for the season? My mom taught me to make Springerle cookies for Christmas. An old German recipe. They are made with Anice seeds and have a licorice flavor…

    Thanks :hattip:

That particular batch came out perfectly. I think atmospherics has a lot to do with how breads, cakes and pizza turns out!

    Is that a stock image?

My special food is a Hungarian Nut Loaf. Basically a sweet bread dough, rolled out to about 1/8", sprinkled with minced pecans and sugar and then rolled up like cinnamon rolls. Haven't made it in years, but I want to with this being the first Christmas in our first house.

That’s a photo of me making the cookies. My wife loaded it on Instagram and that’s the post picture.
That bread you describe sounds delicious

Huh. I thought Springerle was 1/8" to 3/16" thick at most? And do you not put designs on the top?

I baked 2 batches, the photo was the first which were about 3/8” thick. The 2nd batch were about 3/16” thick.
The dough roller has the designs in it. If you zoom in on the photo you can see the design on a few of the cookies. I’m making another batch this weekend. I’ll try to press harder to see the design…

Nah, mate. Just curious on how you make them. I thought maybe you made them that way because that's how a different region of Germany makes them.
