What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Why mess with the brake light if it wasn’t messed up? What did they do? New rubber seal? No leak in mine but I keep seeing this come up not sure what I should do or not do about it

 

Dealer installed a new larger rubber seal, doesn’t look much else beyond that. I’ll grab a photo tomorrow. More black trim and it looks good.

3 out of my 4 previous new trucks all ended up with leaky 3rd brake lights. One truck had the light replaced 4 times under warranty. Unfortunately, all three trucks smelt like wet socks. For my 5th new truck, the 2020 Tacoma got clear silicone applied to the 3rd brake light the day I drove it home from the dealership

 

Damn. Did you see the rain / water come in it or knew only based on smell? I guess I’ll call my nearby Toyota dealer tommorow

 

As you can tell…… most people don’t care.

it was $290 shipped on cyber monday just fyi. way more coverage, twice as thick. Personally I went with RCI's skid though

 

First sign can be condensation in the light itself. Usually won’t be a stream of water. Slow drip, but yes water will settle behind the back seat or in the carpet or sometimes the backseat can even be wet. Once the carpet padding gets wet water can wick any where.

EDIT: Have you seen what members here pay for headlights? $556...per side!!! That's insane...but if it makes the owner happy...like I said.
