Jerking while accelerating

Try to duplicate the problem and watch the tachometer. Is the needle holding smooth or bouncing with the hesitation?

(Obviously do this someplace clear like an empty parking lot)

 

Torque converter

 

10/10 (edit: ok, 7/10) you now have a driveshaft angle problem. Try a CB drop kit or axle shim to bring it back in alignment.

 

Take a look, this is a known problem, even though it may not seem like it based on the majority of the comments (who I might add do not have 3rd gens and have a much more simple torque converter design than us).



When the torque converter is partially locked (slip lock) you will feel this. I feel it more in my 2020 because 2nd gear also does a partial lock. Not an issue but easily fixed with a tune. Keep in mind, most tunes do not eliminate this, but it can easily be proven by disabling 3rd gear slip lock in the tune.

Bring it in where? Again, there's no issue that Toyota will recognize, it's how it was designed.

 

I know this thread is a bit old….but any idea if Toyota recognizes this and will fix it. Mine started doing this around 85k, nothing prior.

 

I got the same issue today at 106,000 miles. Have you found a solution?

Mine almost feels like your driving on washboard. My mechanic said to check for metal in my transmission and differential fluid

What a rush that must be, but why do you need to jerk if you're already in the Taco?
