Okay sorry, I will hopefully wrap up that install tonight or tomorrow. Hit a snag with our rivet gun (FYI for anyone installing the @SpikerEng kit, it uses steel rivets so you will want a rivet gun with a 7" or longer handle. We thought the nifty swivel head guns with a 5" handle would help since the positioning of the rivets is slightly awkward, but it did NOT break the rivet off cleanly ) and we ended up needing to go an purchase a better (i.e., longer handle) tool. **Also worth mentioning that our problem was 100% user error and in no way reflects the quality of this kit**

After 33 years out of the Marines, I still face the flag and stand at attention. If I have a cap on I will even salute.

 

5630 pounds of composite decking on my 20ft steel trailer pulled behind the Tacoma, OME rear leaf pack Kings 2.5 again minimal sag and towed it great even in the dirt up hill, trucks a work horse I love it and still going strong.

 

Is that truck a manual transmission?

 

Let me know if you need additional rivets to complete the job, we'll send some out to you. The key to have them break off cleanly is to ensure that the rivet gun nose is firmly planted against the bracket. You don't want the gun to be at an angle, or to have a gap. Good luck!

Backing that trailer up that hill looks a little challenging.

Also for anyone with poor grip strength or carpal tunnel, I bought this thing off Amazon to help with rivets since it seemed a lot more ergonomic than those squeeze riveters and much less costly than a legit rivet gun.

It's meant to be driven by a drill but I've used a 1/4" socket almost every time since it's usually just a couple rivets being placed and is easier than busting out the drill.

I think until they change the design, it will be a 3rd gen issue. 4th gen due for 2024, so probably not worth it the design effort / cost until then. Probably cheaper to just cover it in phases.

 

What kills me are the giant testicles dangling from the hitch. I just look at my teenage daughters and shrug my shoulders.....

Not what I did today, but nade a quick trip to Bass Pro at the Pyramid in Memphis yesterday. Got a new hat which is more closely related to Voodoo blue (vs blazing blue), but I still like it.



Also caught staff at the end of feeding the juvenile alligators.



Main reason I went was to get my nephew a "small" toy to go along with his birthday later this week. Really wish Bass Pro would do a Toyota truck in some of their toys, but went with the Jeep Gladiator. He turns 3 this week and is all about trucks right now.

 

I frankly don't want to live anywhere that's such a buzzkill you can't dangle fake testicles from your trailer hitch if that's what you think is what's up.
