I'm looking to get a 3rd gen Tacoma to carry an FWC camper. Focusing on suspension to carry the 1200 lbs, what is the difference in the stock suspensions between the SR5 and Offroad? Doing a build compare on the Toyota site, it does not list any differences. I don't need most of the stuff on the Offroad, so will likely go with the SR5 if suspensions are the same, knowing I will need to make mods anyway.

    Probably doesn’t really matter

you’re gonna need to change it anyway

If you are going to carry 1200 lbs at that point you already have to swap out leaf pack and suspension. I’d go with the sr5 since you don’t want/need what the offroad has and save a few grand.

The suspension is the least of what you should be considering between a SR5 and an OR. The OR has Crawl control, and the Locker those are the biggest reasons to get the OR. Suspension? Eh? More than likely you'll change it out anyways. Or you probably can find it really cheap on CL.

Forget the OR the extra bits on the OR it does not sound like you will use or want. With either model you will need to change the suspension so just go with the SR5, the money you will save will pay for most if not all the suspensions upgrade.

The only thing different is the shock absorbers. The GVWR of all the trims is the same. The payload capacity varies based on how heavy the options are.
