Over the past few months my horn has stopped working when the steering wheel was pressed in various positions until last week when the horn would only work when pressing the bottom of the wheel. Now, no horn at all. I have checked the fuse and got a horn sound when I used the panic button. All other wheel buttons function. Based on what I have learned I believe that the clock spring has worn out. I am somewhat wary of working around the airbag and have checked on youtube university as a guide, but I still have a few questions

    1. If I disconnect the battery before doing any work will this "safe" the airbag
    2. As the horn slowly stopped working is there some other part (horn ring?) that could be the problem instead
    3. Is the clock spring repair as easy as it looks on youtube
    4. If the weather closes in, what would be an approximate cost to repair at a local shop (not the dealer-I would not use them at gun point)

    Thanks

I replaced my clockspring last year. I did disconnect the battery but honestly it was super simple. Just dont throw the wheel around.
