Was looking for WIX oil filters a few weeks ago (since then I just started buying OEM from Toyota as wix sold out and is now being produced in China bs) and couldn’t find them anywhere but this ass clown company had a POP UP saying “would you like to be notified when we DO have them? So I said yes and put in my email and a few days went by until I received an email saying “we have them, Hurry while they last!!” So I purchase “2”, put in my CC, they charge me ofcourse snd 2 days go by and I received an email saying we DONT have these in stock so you have two choices #1, wait until we get them in and we will send them to you or……. …………. No #2 choice!? So I email them asking the dumb question “why did you tell me you had these if you don’t? I then received an email back saying we’re sorry and don’t know when we’re getting them in! I said yeah I know but that wasn’t my question and why did you charge my CC if you didn’t have them? No response for 2 days so now I call them, ofcourse broken English to say the least and they couldn’t tell me why they charged me nor could the Rooster in the background that was cackling because she was in Malaysia ofcourse…. I then said look!! Just give me my money back and she told me she would refund my money once they got my money back $26.01 from their supply house.. I then said I didn’t pay your supply house I paid CAR-ID which is you so just refund my money, she told me that’s not how this works and I’d have too wait, I then waited 2 weeks for my $26.01 and called again asking where’s my money or filters? I was told “keep waiting” I then said yeah NO!! I’ll be contacting my bank as I paid with my debit card CC where she told me “I don’t care, go ahead” so I contacted my bank and they instantly gave me my huge purchase price of $26.00 back and said they’d gladly get their money back and for me not to worry about it…. A week goes by and my wife calls me at work asking me if I’m out buying a ton of crap online which I said NO too and found out this CAR-ID went on a spending spree with my credit card which I also got reimbursed for so just fair warning DO NOT USE CAR-ID. you’ve been warned.

sad. I have used them before but not had any issue like this. I have only purchased specific parts because other sources were out and CAR-ID listed over 100 in stock a couple states away.

Skipping the sadness of your financial woes, do you know where 'OEM' Toyota filters are made? I don't.

But it's noy by Toyota themselves.

They are made by the low bidder that meets their specs, run on an existing production line, painted black and Toyota branded.

They could well come from the China Wix plant you cited.

That's a shitty situation to be in. I've come across their website before and I didn't like the vibe. My go to is rockauto and I've always found them to be the cheapest, especially for filters.

Rockauto for wiper blades too... My local auto parts, Napa/O'reillys/Auto Zone, all charge close to $20 for crap blades, and rockauto charges less than $5 for Bosch, a much better blade. I buy six at a time and that minimizes the shipping cost so am payng final price about a 1/3 of retail shops and getting better product.

Not surprised to read this. Theyre definitely a shady operation. Ive ordered misc BD lights from them before and they just kept my money without sending anything lol. They obviously dont keep inventory and I highly doubt theyre an authorized retailer.

Never had a problem here and I’ve ordered over a couple thousand of inventory from them.

I didn’t mention it to be a dick as appeared to be implied. Only to reference I had more experience with them than just an anecdotal wiper blade or oil filter experience. They appear to be middle man drop shippers. I do check inventory on hand before ordering. I don’t order if the product isn’t in stock.

Okay, at the risk of incurring the wrath of the forum. Why was this guy banned? Is something in this post objectionable? How about an explanation so we can learn.

Now ( 2022) Toyota filters are labeled either Made in Japan or Made in Thailand. Thats too bad about Wix. They were the go to brand especially for big rigs and heavy equipment. As for CARiD, I had always had a good experience, until I received a defective part. Then things got ugly. Bottom line is that with many companies as long as your purchase and receipt of the correct, and not defective part, goes without incident, we assume its a good company. But the true test of a customer oriented company is how they handle problems. Then they can shine or expose their ugly underbelly. But in this day and age of the interweb, forums like this expose the good and bad. One of my biggest peeves is buying a product based on the picture, like a Stihl chainsaw part shown in a factory Stihl labeled bag. So I will pay more to insure I am getting an OEM product. Then what shows up is a part in a generic ziploc bag, and the seller telling me they buy in bulk, blah, blah, blah. It's the Wild West.

In the last few months I have picked up Tacoma oil filters from the dealer. One box stated Made in Japan. The other box stated Made in Thailand. I would think by law, they have to at least state where the product was actually made. But these days companies play the word game. We hear "Made" in the USA with foreign and domestic parts. To me, that is not "made" in the USA. It was made somewhere else, and assembled in the USA. A big difference.

I work at a NAPA store. Our filters are made by Wix. So I checked all 12 Toyota Toyota filters on our shelf (#1348). They are all made in the USA. 20230404_090926.jpg

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Yeah, I use WIX or NAPA gold. I have never had a concern with the quality of a Wix or Napa filter.

I have only ordered 2 things from car id..
First, a body armor front winch bumper for my tacoma..
Second, a body armor front winch bumper for my tacoma..
Funny story, when i was searching for best prices, car id came up and is was like 400 shipped. Well when it arrived, it was for a 5th gen 4runner. Lucky for me, my wife has a 5th gen 4runner. So i asked her if she wanted to keep it. So we did. I looked up the bumper for the 4runner and it was way more $$$ than for the tacoma. So i placed an order again for the body armor bumper for my tacoma again. Sure enough the right one arrived for my tacoma. I guess i got lucky.
Sorry to hear about your bad expierence with them.
