I have 100K on my 2015 Tacoma 4 cylinder with the auto tranny. I was thinking I would just drain my tranny fluid cold and measure the amount and refill. I don't see any evidence of leaks.

The problem is that I can't find the refill plug on the tranny. There is just the drain plug on the bottom. The 4 cylinder doesn't even have the overflow tube plug on the bottom. All of the videos that I have found on this subject are for the 6 cylinder Tacoma and the refill plug is easy to see on the 6 cylinder. Typically, the refill plug is up high above the drain pan and it's a large bolt. I can't find a large bolt anywhere. Could it be behind something? Has anyone else done this with their 4 cylinder auto? Any help where to find this plug?

    Thanks

You can fill it through the dipstick tube, I dont believe there is a fill plug, or at least i wasnt able to locate it either. The dipstick tube is on the drivers side bolted to the intake manifold

Jesus H. Christ, do I ever feel like a dumba$$ now! I've had this truck for 6 years. I just changed the spark plugs. I've never noticed the dipstick before! Since most late model vehicles don't have a tranny dipstick, I just naturally assumed that this truck had no dipstick either. I just never even thought about it or went looking for it.

Well this job just got easier! Thanks! Now I can change my tranny fluid without going through all the hassles that the people with the V6 have to go through. I'll just do a simple drain, measure amount drained, refill, and then check my fluid levels on the stick.

It's all good, very easy to miss if you've never seen it before. And yeah the v6 tacos have a sealed trans, so doing maintenance is a little more cumbersome on them vs the 4spd you've got. Keep us posted how it goes! When i changed the fluid in my dad's truck, he said it shifted much smoother afterwards. Also Type T-IV is the flavor fluid you're looking for. Should be around 3.5-4 qts for a drain and refill

    Thanks for the info.

I think I'll go ahead and buy 8 quarts. I'll drain and refill once and then drive it a few thousand miles and then do it again, now that I know it's this easy!

I do a drain and fill with every second oil change. Like BassAckwards said, it's usually just shy of a gallon. If you can't find Toyota Type T-IV, Dexron III will be fine.
