Looks fine to me but maybe I'm missing something. Are you talking about that surface-rust-speckled pipe behind the crossmember? That looks like the exhaust pipe that runs underneath the transfer case, and yeah looks like it took a shot from a rock or something.

I'm more curious about the big orange shmear of RTV around that drain plug though...

Edit: I don't have too many photos of that crossmember but here's a view from the reverse angle to show how the exhaust routes and is probably what you are seeing:

WAY more worried about the BS repair on the trans pan check bolt than I am the perfectly straight trans cross member.

Talking about right in the middle of the crossmember where the trans mount is how it looks like it is twisted a little but perfectly straight on the bottom guess thats just how it is designed.

Im aware of the dent in my exhaust pipe.. And the orange smear is a temp fix until I get new gasket for the check bolt on trans...

thanks for quick reply appreciate it

Doesn’t look bent, doesn’t look scratched, doesn’t look dented, just looks normal from the pic

Well this thread took a weird turn…to all the undercarriage peepers thanks for the kind words. Hate to spoil the prom night fantasies but it only looks so nice because that’s black-dyed Woolwax. Granted it was a Texas truck but now in Wisconsin so it’s inevitable to change.

OK back on track: To OP if there’s anything wrong with that crossmember we can’t see it from the photo which is a good thing. My original comment on the RTV isn’t trying to hate on a temporary repair just concern for its well-being so shake off the haters and get it fixed proper as soon as you can.

No worries your good I know you were not hatin…. You answered my question and then said you were concerned….. Just a little irritating when I post a thread asking for advice or whatever it is.. All these trolls that apparently have nothing better to do but jump to conclusions and talk smack…. Sry just ramblin..

    appreciate your help..

I had the same thought when I was under my truck last week getting some 3d scans for a project.

Visually mine looks a little off but no paint scratches or rusty spots where an impact might have occurred anywhere near the x brace.

I just figured it's a optical illusion haha
