I have all new headlights/tailights/grille and a catback system with some engine and suspension upgrades on the way, I really want a more aggressive stance but don't want new wheels. I am currently running stock wheels with no offset, what do y'all think about me getting spacers cause my tires are so skinny?

Tires are the first thing I would have bought, especially if you want to go off road.

Neevermind now that my comprehension kicked in. Spacers would improve the look imo.

Non stock Wheels/tires and no lift looks better than just a lift with stock wheels.

I’ve seen some spacers that were shockingly cheap and dangerous to use. I got some billet ones from Summit that were nice. Then a problem with the lug nuts not engaging the studs good. So I replaced them with arp studs. Better than oem. That is if you go with that type of spacer.

You might be happier with better wheels and tires. You could wait until your existing tires wear and need replacing. That’ll give you time to shop around for the wheels you want.

I have "pizza cutter" wheels (tall skinny 33") and run small spacers.

Don't cheap out on spacers. Keep it 1.5" or less and from a reputable brand. Spider trax or bora are what I have experience with and recommend.
Always use the proper torque specs and you won't have any issues.

Thanks, 4wheel Parts is helping me get them I'm just installing them myself and I'm looking for any problems I might not know about they aren't telling me because they're trying to get a sale. I'm getting 33's when these tires wear out but I genuinely like my wheels, they're texas edition 17'' alloys so theyre pretty rare for being from the factory

Use a torque wrench when installing and follow directions. They need re-torquing at something loke 5, 50, 500, then every few thousand miles. They’ll definitely help the stance aesthetic, but man tires make the biggest difference in that aspect.

Thanks, all my local shops are recommending I use some loctite stuff they provide, what do y'all say to that? Also i didn't know about the retorquing, thanks.

Also I really don't want to have to pay for new tires just yet, I have another year or so left in mine and don't want to pay for new ones

Locktite on lugs? Never done it, never had one fall off. The only big issue I had was on my grandfathers car, a tire shop doofus used an impact wrench and cross threaded one on. I had to unscrew it forcefully until the stud snapped, then replace the stud and nut.

As per the owner of Bora - 70 ft*lb's for 12mm studs, no loctite needed. He also recommended driving 5 miles and checking torque the first time they're installed to make sure everything was installed correctly.

Here's a link to the spec sheet:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bora-spacers-review-install.216233/#post-4963508

I had emailed him personally when he told me the same information (no loctite, etc.):

From a conversation with the owner of BORA

    Me:

    "Hello,

I purchased some BORA spacers for my 2008 6 lug Tacoma from someone on Tacomaworld.com. I bought some red loctite and I was wondering what some installation tips might be."

    Lenny:

    "Tony

We really don't recommend using loctite, no need

I know that a lot of guys do use it, but as long as you torque the open end lug nuts to the proper foot lbs, they won't back off or come loose."

    Me:

    "Lenny,

Thank you. I have a torque wrench ready to go. Does this mean that I don't have to check the torque on the open ended lug nuts after 5 miles, 50, or 100 miles? Thank you for the info. I'll be putting them on this week. Take care."

    Lenny:

"You should recheck the torque after the first 5 miles to make sure everything was mounted correctly."

Also if your front lugs are still shorter than the rear like previous gens:

Use these for the spacers, at least up front:

If you go to route of spacers, i recommend BORA or Spidertrax. Also, do NOT use an impact to install the spacers or the wheels..... if you are one to take your truck in for tire rotations they will for sure use impact. Back when I had stock wheels, 1.25" spacers looked perfect and not overkill... post pics when you figure it out, good luck.

1.25” spacers, no lift. BF Goodrich A/T’s.

Spidertrax spacers actually come with red lock tite and says to use it in the directions. For whatever that’s worth.

I feel like if I still had my stock tires, it may look a little strange…. Interested to see how it comes out, if you go that route.
