It’s been a long few days, but a huge section of floors are finally finished. The logistics of living here and doing stuff like this can be worse than the work. Almost put the wife and baby in a hotel, but we were able to navigate around upstairs and do without a kitchen for a bit. Just one more day of curing and back to normal.

Looks great. I like polished concrete more than just about anything else. I've been looking at some of the more exotic polished concrete and I think it rivals even the most intricate wood floors.

Oh, didn't know what aqua guard was just thought it was something to cover seams in the board. That makes more sense. There are a lot of people who just use cement board though and never any waterproof membrane. Makes me cringe a little seeing a lot of these flip houses because a lot of them are cutting corners, all to save a few bucks to make even more.

Isn't that the truth, we've stayed in an Airbnb and a hotel a couple times, just too much a hassle sometimes.

Definitely not trying to cut corners. Water damage is no bueno. Especially being on the second story.

I can't say I necessarily like the first one but it see es as a good example of what can be done. I don't have any direct price quotes but when I was searching a while back it didn't seem any more expensive than decent word floors.

Finally got the chandelier centered over top of the dining table. Stupid thing weighs as much as a ceiling fan. Glad I got the fan rated box with the truss kit to hang it on. The 60 year old box nailed to the joist that it was hanging from was pretty sketch.

Ill patch the old hole when I eventually redo the kitchen one day. For now I just stuck a cover plate on it.

Finally hung these 4 reclaimed stained/leaded glass cabinet doors. Weird ‘90s architecture with a useless ledge in the master bedroom, this is better. 924C69BA-6B1B-4553-BB44-742221692FCC.jpg5F65C3F6-E990-4DC3-B281-AF9ACAF745AD.jpg
Of course, ripping a 14’ pc of fir in a 12’ shop starts off the complications but wife is happy so .

I like the look of the fancier concrete, with a design in it or such. Seems about equal to tile for standing long durations and waterproof wise.

That looks like a metallic epoxy. I've been considering something like that or swisstrax for my garage.

Cement board on the surround is done. Need to tape and fill the seams, then on to waterproofing membrane. Should be done by Wednesday with that, and ready to tile when we get back from Christmas with family
