Mom used the spoon, soap and the switch (she was a tough bird). Dad was pretty patient with my brother and I but when we crossed the line, out came the belt. The sound of it being unsheathed from its belt loops was enough to send us diving under the bed and cowering in fright. He was pretty quiet for being an old army man. When I was in my 20's, we were carrying a table and he jammed his elbow into something. He dropped an F bomb and just about dropped my end. I had never heard him swear before. Memories. lol

I was smart enough to not use profane language in front of my parents, so no, never soap in the mouth. But I got the belt, switch and dads hand to my butt fairly often as needed for other infractions.

The worst was when mom swung a belt at my legs once, I dodged it and it came back and hit her legs. It pissed her off and it was on after that.
