Heh, we have one cat that does not fair well in the car at all. Will mess himself any little trip. Worst one was moving back to Pennsylvania from Mississippi. Happened pretty much right out of the driveway, but there was no feasible way of cleaning him up as I don't want an escaped cat in the middle of Alabama or Tennessee somewhere... Took a month to get the smell outta that Equinox... Not looking forward to the short move up and over the mountain coming up...

I had headliner done on 2000 Nissan x-cab about 5-6 years ago and cost was $150.00 but done at a auto upholstery shop. Looked good as new.
I've been looking at coverlay dash caps, installed they look decent. They're about the same price.

Reminds me I need to get the headliner in the Talon done hopefully. I was going to do it myself, but the old "cardboard" is so fragile and crumbling; I'm just gonna drop off the car as is so they might have something to work with.

My cat Pia has travelled all over the US with me. She is good in vehicles.

Before I came back to NY, my base of operations changed quite a few times. Jacksonville, FL, Bremerton, WA, Pascagoula, MS and so on. She rode shotgun on each move. Now she's a home body.

I would take the chance of taking him again if we could make sure he wasn't left completely I unattended. I think that may have been what did it but he barely made a peep otherwise. You could just barely smell it on occasion and I kept checking everywhere and not finding anything. It wasn't until we got home and cleaned everything out that we knew for sure.

    Live and learn :notsure:
When I was in middle school my friends sister used to pick me up and take us to school in her Gremlin. We used thumbtacks and gum to keep that headliner up  so gross.
