The worst thing about driving in the snow is other drivers that can't. That said, truck/stock tires do well. Learned to drive in northern MN growing up and now enjoy lake effect snow east of Ontario. Was a blast when I was young but not so much now. If you tend to venture off the beaten path, throw some basic survival gear in the back...an old blanket can be used as an emergency traction aide.

I’m using Baja Design Squadrons. Plug and play, no cutting. Mine are the ‘off-road’ version, so they do not cut-off like normal fogs and just blast light everywhere. I don’t use mine on road. They do have an ‘on road’ version though, so depending on your needs you can select what works best for you.

I’m a firm believer that people should head to a nice open parking lot/empty space and hoon their car in the snow. Learn the handling characteristics and limits in a somewhat safe area. Having fun and learning at the same time.

I'm a rainx superuser but avoid using it on headlights, don't want to chance lens hazing.

agreed but using it once or twice a year in an emergency for certain snow events should be fine for the headlights. Try to keep it on the glass for sure.

The radar will quit when the grill gets ice caked on it as well - I confirmed that on a trip to Colorado two weeks ago. There is a reason aircraft radars are behind a nose cone (and are MUCH more powerful). Maybe the next gen radars will have a heat strip that will turn on in freezing conditions although I'm not sure I would ever use that functionality in snow and ice conditions. Dynamic mode may apply the brakes without your input and in snow and ice that can put you in a dangerous place. Towing could be dangerous as well in dynamic mode for the same reason.

How to use cruise when dynamic cruise is unavailable
You can turn radar assisted cruise control off and use standard cruise by holding the button for dynamic cruise control for a couple of seconds. This is the standard cruise control mode and is depicted by a different cruise control icon if I remember correctly. Remember: it is non-dynamic mode so the driver will be back in the 90s having to manage distances between vehicles.

Driving home is a snow storm tonight could have sworn the Dash Lit up with a tire spinning indicator as I left Grand Ma's house. I did not notice it spinning but went for 4x4 anyways and drove home in some real nasty stuff. Were having up to 49 MPH Gusts and -11 below zero weather. Nice test for the Head lights not wet snow but I had put some Plastic Rain-X on the head lights and tail lights. Nothing stuck to them but it was dry snow too. Handled well on the bumpy drifts felt totally conferrable driving home tonight after Christmas Dinner. White Out weather at times brite lights are of no help in this stuff!

Some people apparently think TSS is like a fighter jet radar.

Some times you just say something on a forum and it goes berserk with all kinds of wow you can't do this or that never drive this way or that way ect. Like my Brother in Law all he wanted to do was argue at the dinner table over nothing but it made him feel better. Problem with him he is a CEO of a Big Company and thinks he is special being a boss but puts his pants on one leg at a time just like me. We argued over the 3 Peaks and Washington Law I had just mentioned it to him. Nope your wrong over and over till I just gave up. He emailed me later and said your right and I looked at my tires there snow rated?? I was just telling him about the rating of tires and it went South from there. Sorta like this post? Still snowing here might get to test the TRD in some drifts tomorrow but I think I will use my 4X4 Tractor on them first! Seems to work better getting thru the drifts first? That’s funny that you think the 3.5 has any kind of torque jump.

If youve got the auto, 5th to 4th could cause tires to start spinning in snowy roads. Happened to me on my way to tahoe abt a week ago. Only time was 5th to 4th going out of the overdrive gears. 4th to 3rd no issue.

Go to home depot or other hardware stores and try to buy 4-5 “tube sand” bags. They are ~65lb plastic lined sand bags you put over the rear axle.

Helps if you are in the snow.
