I went from stock wheels and tires to Toyo Open Country AT3 and Ion Alloy wheels. I only went up to a 265/75r16 but they were E load range and the added weight was very noticeable. I did enough testing on gas mileage and also acceleration to know there is a big difference. The truck was just a bit off at 0-60 and 1/8 mile but when you drive it normally it was definitely down at the slower speeds and rpms when trying to climb hills or pull something. Also the gas mileage went down 1.5mpg on average.
All this and my wife didn't like how it made it "drive" to her so I pulled them off and went back stock. Truck runs like champ again.

I have 2 sets of tires and rims. One is the stock P265/70R16 (30.6”) wrangler all-terrains and the other is LT255/85R16 (32.6”) mud terrains. I can feel the difference and measure the difference (1-3 mpg). Make sure you are running enough air pressure. It’s typically a bit more for LT tires.

Air pressure is key. I'm running 38psi in my sl rated razor in 285/70/17. It still feels like I'm driving through glue but way better than when I was running 32 psi

You're on the other side of Baltimore, about 108 miles from Dover. My daughter & son-in-law live by Fells Point.

Maybe I'll see you on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge...lol!

Not really, mostly at highspeed trying to maintain speed makes the truck down shift a lot.

Yes, you added weight to the outside of the tire increasing centrifugal force, on top of that you now have a higher rolling resistance because of the extra tread width and have increased your scrub radius, also your Ackerman geometry doesn't match that and your bump steer angle will be exaggerated in most cases.

Not as much as lightweight tires, the further out the weight the bigger the difference in centrifugal force. This is (part of the reason) why guys who throw lightweight 18" rims on their import cars still feel the Flintstone effect. Because while they may actually save a pound or two at best, most of the weight is now in the barrel traveling at a higher rate of speed and needing more torque to rotate.
