Selling a ubolt flip kit I only used for 2 months. Very beefy design
And I had the top plates powder coated. This should be the relentless fab brand. I switch them out because I got a set designed
To go with my new bump stops. Willing to ship at buyers expense.

    $60

Yes it will. I had it on my larger medium duty ARB leaf pack.

Is it okay to re-use U-bolts after they've been installed once?

Yea it’s fine. These things are beefy and like I mentioned they were hardly used.

Some on here have said they stretch upon install and thus should not be re-used.

    But I don't know. That's why I'm asking.

Iv never heard of that myself and would be surprised if there was any stretch in metal so thick. I believe the torque spec of the bolts are around 100-150 so just a little more than a wheel.

so if you decide to remove or add a leaf, you recommend using entirely new hardware? This is completely absurd and based on nothing but conjecture.

Since @YellowSnow continues to be skeptical, I did a little research on it and nearly every major automotive enthusiast group (e.g., Jeep guys, Tacoma guys, anyone with leaf springs) seems to have raised this concern.

Apparently it's not about the strength of the hardware, but how U bolts tend to be manufactured as basically a wear item once tightened (threads will not have the same integrity after the initial torque/re-torque period because they are compromised).

Of course, many will re-use them and without issue. I guess YMMV.

Please be quite if you don't know what you are talking about, because you really don't know what you are talking about
I am a Certified Fastener Specialist (October 4th 2016 with the FTI) do not believe what @YellowSnow is saying boys

The NUTS (High Hex SAE J995) are made from a higher carbon through hardened steel then work hardened when cold formed, you can re-use them as long as the threads are in good, working condition. I would check them with a thread chaser for any malformations. Also check for any surface cracking in the "Corners" and edges to check any set in of embrittlement

The U-BOLTs (MSS-SP-58, Type 24) are created from a low carbon non hardened steel, that are barely work hardened just bent and threaded and once stretched do not return to their (Properly) original shape, and lose substantial elongation tension some are even annealed to make them easier to stretch which you do not use again once un-installed U-Bolt or not

The U-BOLTs will stretch, they are designed to work like a ferrous rubber bands to make it easy
DO NOT re-use your U-BOLTs after removing them, they have reached max yield/elongation after install
This stretch is very, very little and you would not even notice it... but it does stretch like a rubber band would

Remember... always use a "harder" nuts than the fastener you are using in conjunction with

Example: Grade 8 nut with Grade 5 bolts, or Grade 5 nuts with Grade 2 bolts etc.

Suggesting you re-use U-Bolts is moronic, dangerous and I cannot believe you would suggest something without doing proper research or asking an expert because you clearly are not. You are the one basing your incorrect statements off of nothing but conjecture your assumptions are absurd

"Beefy" has nothing to do with it... I big blob of "Soft" metal is not beefy... you are focusing on mass and not grain structure

Go ahead, re-use them and end up like this guy... or don't be cheap and get new U-Bolts and do it the right way

Go to a mechanic, a good one... they wont re-use them you shouldn't either don't be cheap/lazy. Take care yall

So all U bolts are created equal? What if I’m using an aftermarket u-bolt flip kit? What if I’m just removing or adding a single leaf from say an Icon RXT kit? According to Icon, Wheelers, Toyota Truck Shop in San Diego, who have all been wrenching Tacos for decades, completely replacing u-bolts isn’t necessary.

I didn't know you have/had the expertise/certification to be suggesting how people use IFI specific fasteners
Or if you don't, pipe down because you are providing false information, also don't eat yellow snow

Your statement above is completely absurd and based on nothing but conjecture

I can re-use a condom as well some people do actually, but should I? I sure as hell wouldn't
You know you can re-use needles, spark plugs, engine oil and mouthwash as well...

Waiting for you response. Is it Friday already boys?

Let me google that for you:

"While the U-bolt has some flexibility in its ability to stretch after being loosened, the bolt will never tighten enough to allow it to regain its full torque spec potential. The next issue with trying to reuse U-bolts has to do with the threads themselves. When being tightened, the threads stretch out under torque"

thanks…is this what you do? Go around forums, flash some gimmick credentials, and regurgitate the first thing that pops up on Google? I will stick to listening to my local fabrication shop, instead of listening to the resident TW keyboard commando….you go Chad!
