Hey all! I'm new to the world of tacos and have a 2019 TRD Pro.
I have a few things I need some help with even after going through all the threads (can be a bit daunting and overwhelming).
My truck was sold with second gen silver alloys poorly painted black... so I'm in the market to have them changed. I'd like TRD Pro wheels in black, probably gloss, or as I've seen the graphite. Im just lost with it all. Ideal would be the wider 8" wheels, as for 16 vs 17, what are the pros and cons? I'd assume the 16 is better for actual overlanding... and then there is offset which im clueless. I'd like the wheels to stick out a bit more but not to a ridiculous level. So what do I get? I believe the 4runner TRD pro of the same year are 17x8? In graphite. Then there's all these aftermarket knockoff ones. Yep, overwhelmed lol. Price is another factor. Cheaper or more than the oem ones. Any help would be nice. My target= 8" Pro looking in gloss black or graphite. Up in the air on 16 vs 17.

Intake: is there a way to use the afe scoop with the TRD cai? Looking at the TRD intake vs the afe, I like the look of the TRD better, and it has a nice sound boost while not being obnoxious. But the scoop from afe looks nice and is more forced cold air in... oh what to do lol

Ov tune: def need that but then there are the 3 versions for it as well as what all would I need? I have seen that its possible to pay someone who has the stuff to meet up and do it, or something like that. Im in the Akron/Canton Ohio area...

I have the pro cat back, but a little louder without really changing that low tone would be nice. I live and am registered in an area that has no e-check. I don't need cats. Should I remove them all? Leave the first 2 or back 2? Will the truck throw codes if all or some are removed? Clueless other than knowing no cats means more "power and sound" through better flow and less back pressure.

Updating the systems: how does one update gracenote and the rest of the on board software (including maps)? Cant really find anything on this.

    Replacement LED headlamps:

The two recommended are what im between but can't really decide. I cant get a clear 'get this one for this result, this other one for this result'. Anyone with experience on this? The info is overwhelming and just need a general rundown of this brand is like this, the other is like that kinda thing. Any help would be amazing. Especially from anyone that has run both and has an opinion on why they went with what they did between the 2 options.

The heated seats not working plauge. I have it. Both don't heat up. Has anyone found a solution to this? I don't want to buy new modules just to have them crap out again...

Thank you all for this wonderful forum and wealth of knowledge!!! Again any help at all would be amazing and greatly appreciated! I'm not a complete novice when it comes to the automotive and performance world, but I am new to the taco world. As I become more in tune with this forum im sure I will become more self reliant but for now, its a bit much to try and go through it all while learning everything and taking it all in. Like cramming for the SAT the night before lol
    Thanks again!!!

Oh and I was wondering about sharing vanity plates. Is it safe to post mine or nah? I got lucky with mine and am pretty proud of it lol

    Yeah.
Does your truck have the original Pro suspension, or did they swap that as well?

On the wheels, I'd personally just get a set of the OEM Pro wheels that came with the truck. They are reasonably priced and do have a tiny extra bit of offset over the other trims.

On the intake, don't do the scoop thing, leave it pulling air from the fender well. Tacomas come with a good cold air intake. The TRD intake opens things up a tiny bit and has a different resonator, but air flow is controlled by the computer so it doesn't really matter what intake you put on it. I have the TRD mainly because it looks good and I like to tinker.

No clue on the OV Tune, I left mine stock and remain happy with it. There's the KDMax (or something) option as well.

Leave the exhaust alone. Throwing little things like an intake, tune, and exhaust mods are not going to turn the 3.5L into a V8. If you are dead-set on improving performance, save up for some forced induction and do the entire thing at once, end-to-end. Removing the cats would likely throw codes or require a tune, not give you much (if any) noticeable performance, make your truck all hacked up for the next owner when you figure out you want more power, and makes our air dirtier.

No clue on LED headlamps. In general, you get what you pay for. OEM housings are good quality and tough to beat.

Luckily my heated seats have been working fine, with settings of Fire, Lava, and Surface of the Sun.

    Welcome to TW!

Big sticker guy Lots of wasted money
    1. The pro wheels from the 4Runner won't give you any poke but you can get them cheap from Toyota parts , put 5 on my wife's for a little under $800. Also check out Rocktrix wheels a few of us have them and love them (also cheaper) -12 offset on mine has been spot on.

    2. OV Tune you'll love and most guys here that do them can set you straight on which version works best for you

    3. Vanity plates!!!! https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/who-has-a-vanity-plate-for-their-tacoma.540796/page-15

    4. Most importantly welcome to TW, don't worry if it gets overwhelming that's the good part, and it takes your mind off all the money flying out of your wallet!

If you like the look of the pro wheels (at least the early 3rd gen pro wheels), then the FN FX pros are great. I believe they are lighter and fit a wider range of available tires. There's a thread on them in the tires and wheels forum here for pictures.
