He did stop driving for awhile. Had some cataphracts removed last year and started driving again now that he could see! haha. Just super local around the small, out in the middle of nowhere community he still lives in. He loves startling folks that are over visiting with that thing, especially kids. He always gets a laugh out of it.

He sounds like a super cool dude. My grandpa was the same. He was really active and independent until he died at 85. He loved to drive and take himself places. Then one day he side swiped a city bus and kept going. Apparently he had no idea he swiped the bus until the police knocked on his door holding his arrest warrant for hit and run. Long story short the judge threw out the ticket as long as we promised not to let him drive anymore. That was a sad day for him losing his freedom but he agreed it was probably best for everyone else on the road lol.

I have something similar. I run a Federal Signal SmartSiren SS2000SM. It controls all my accessories, my tow truck lightbar, and has a PA. Has siren functionality but I had to disable it since it isn’t allowed. Came off a state trooper car.

I've had fellow SAR members have the siren and PA come in handy. Literally for subjects to come towards the loud ass siren, or for voice checks via the PA. I would never use the siren outside of that. The horn though, ABSOLUTELY i'd use that, hahaha.

I mainly use it for the PA and the radio rebroadcast which is hooked up to my phone for music. Don’t know if the air horn is allowed in my state. I run amber lights on my Federal Signal Legend bar.

Yeah, Amber only here in WA, as well. Their is no law specifically saying no to Air Horns in WA, they have some vague terminology about not having anything obnoxiously loud, but nothing concrete like decibel levels.

I ran air horns on my dually for years. Had a 5gal tank and compressor in my tool box. It had a 4 trumpet train horn behind the front bumper and a fire engine horn in the grill. I wired it to the factory horn with several switches so i could hit each individual horn, all of them or any combination of the 3 lol. It was great to have even worked with the panic button. Made it real easy to find in a parking lot.
