    Yo!

Sorry if this is the wrong area... the Technology forum seems pretty dead.

Anyways.. if you're familiar with development I've been working with React ( just started dabbling in React Native ) and I'm needing ideas for a new project to keep learning. The only reason I have Instagram / Facebook is to look at rig builds. It sucks filtering through Kardashian and political shit to find what I'm looking for.

Would there be any interest in a "social media" platform that is rig / overland focused? A spot where you can list out your build, compare builds and research products?

I'm just spitballing right now trying to think of things. Anybody got some suggestions?

Not a bad idea. It would be nice yo use an app that doesnt have photos of your cat shitting on the floor as a suggestion. All vehicle related app with specific categories you can subscribe to and filter through.

    Exactly.

A spot where you can register an account, create your build and list out all the work done with photos. Everything could be tagged so when you search for something it shows related items and the build as well.

I've been on IH8MUD for a while after leaving my Tacoma for a GX460 and haven't seen any functionality similar to that. That site is def lacking to be kind.

The gallery section on https://www.trailbuiltoffroad.com/ is the closest thing I've found to what I'm thinking.

I dunno, I’ve seen a lot of new social media sites try and start up over the last few years and they all seem to die pretty quick.

but maybe you’ll be different and make some money

Not in it for money lol Best way to master new coding languages is build projects... figured it may as well be something I'm passionate about.

That’s where it gets dicey. Passion projects are great but building a healthy social network is a pain in the ass, especially if you arent getting paid. Would be good to have some sort of revenue model in mind before.
