weird, got a 21 TRD OR back in June, no tech package, non-LED HLs - supposed to have halogen H11s in lows, went to add Philips VisionPlus +60 halogens and found LED bulbs in there for low beams. Highs are halogen as expected ... changing because patternseems fine but felt they could be brighter, now I am confused - any guesses? bought new, and yah I know which lamp is which...

Take a pic of the back of the housing.
Do they twist in like standard halogen bulbs? I'd think the factory LED's are permanent like most. If they twist in, someone more than likely changed them.

they twist out, my build is non-LED projectors, bought truck new and no one has touched in - can only guess they built it this way , maybe temp bulb shortage in factory or something - anyway having LED lamp in that halogen projector housing mayexplain why I was unsatisfied with the very little night driving 've done. pics of my headlights front and back and the LED bulbs I just pulled out follow. anyway swaapped in the visionplus +60, - much better ... weird. and yah no upcharges, they didn't try to represent as LED headlights.. no dealer mods at all as I warned them in advance.. no biggie all good now. thanks for the thoughts

I might be wrong but I remember reading somewhere that you'll fail Colorado inspection if you have LED lights in certain halogen housings. I have a costumer that bought a 2021 TRD Sport and the dealership put LED bulbs in his halogen headlight and fog light housings and he failed an inspection (SC registration) because of that.

Edit: Bought in south carolina in 2020, registered in south carolina, and reregisterd in NC in 2021. I forgot he did that. Not sure what the NC laws are exactly

I didn’t know the factory comes with led bulbs like that. I have a 21 OR with no led HL package. The only led I have on my HL is my daylight running light and that one is sealed. I’m guessing the dealer installed it. Are those led bulbs Toyota branded?

wow, kinda pisses me off - I could not have been more explicit with dealer regarding not touching the truck - probably started into their normal BS before sales guy advised them of my warning - and the thing is the performance was really marginal (at best) with those LEDs, difference with a good halogen bulb was significant and a nice surprise (just took it out for night drive after the swap). Good to know, thank you all for your responses... Maybe I'll write dealer and ask them to pay for the halogens I just swapped in.

Based on comments guessing dealer did it - irritating - and certainly degraded performance in my judgement based on performance after putting halogens in. If you have an OR without factory LEDs and performance not satisfactory may want to check whats installed (especially if bought from an autonation dealer. No branding on bulb so suspect cheap chinese bulbs..

appreciate the offer but I just put new halogens in philips visonplus +60, seem pretty good after test drive - and way better than the shiz dealer snuck in.

    Dobinsons 2" lift, 33s....other stuff
Autonation sucks, they told me that they "upgrade" all of their cars to these cheapo LEDs "for free" lol.
After some back and forth they agreed to swap the factory halogens back in....they just couldn't possibly understand why I wouldn't want to keep the LEDs instead. All in all, I would never deal with them again.

I just bought those tungsram bulbs and I got them into the headlights without a problem, they will not fit in the fog lights though. Has anyone else had this issue?
