Went to change my belts and snapped the adjusting bolt for the water pump pulley (apparently I didn’t use enough PB blaster) on my 2rz. Anyone have a part number or recommendation for a replacement bolt?

Any recommendations on how to get the snapped bolt out? Thinking about using an easy out but I’m worried I’m gonna have to pull the motor due to lack of wiggle room to use a drill and bits.

Looks extremely close although it looks to be for a different engine, although I’ve done the differential breather mod and that called for a part from a Camry. If I can’t find anything else I’ll get this and report the results.

Just making sure, you did loosen the locking bolt?

It was the adjusting bolt for the power steering belt, not the alternator, unless I goofed up and the bolt for the pulley is also the locking bolt, which I admittedly did not loosen as I’m a bit inexperienced :/

Okay, your first post says it's the water pump pulley.

Ah yeah my bad, I was using a belt diagram for a 2002-2006 Tacoma from autozone. It’s the power steering pulley/belt, and I did forget to loosen the locking bolt. Guess my young age and inexperience with engines is showing haha.

The bolt kit linked above does indeed work for the alternator on the 2rz, so I guess I’ll hope they can be swapped around, as I can’t find anything else. Will be interesting because I know the power steering pump bolts are 14mm and the alternator bolts are 12mm. Might try out the scrapyard first though.

That bolt goes to whatever is in this, not the idler pulley. The OEM adjusting bolt is apparently M8-1.25x 90mm with a 14mm head.

Dorman makes a replacement for the entire pulley that’s 23$ vs the 200$ for OEM. I figure I’ll buy that and take the bolt from it and have some spare parts if I decide to break it some more

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
i have made many of these using the correct all thread and welding on a nut. Looking around it is also possible to find a fully threaded bolt of the correct size I have bought a few of these over the years they come in handy.

I would not try with this still attached to the engine not having a 4cylinder handy to look at does not help

can you get the adjuster off the engine without pulling the engine ?

    Maybe pull the radiator .

    Best of Luck.
