I pulled the fixture and separated the guts. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a simple disconnect. It looks like I'll need to 'unwire' the switch pak in order to separate it out of the equation. It sort of looks like it might be modular as it comes apart but not confirmed. Just gonna be a bitch to fiddle with since there is no extra harness to pull out of the headliner and I'm not sure if I jack it up, what the replacement component is. I can see this turning into a "oh, we need yo pull the headliner and replace 3' of harness' kinda deal!

Was hoping I could diagnose without being quite so invasive at this point.

I did the same thing on my 2018. That is didn’t disconnect battery, and grounded out the circuit while installing the light in the dome position.

Took to dealer after my TS and they diagnosed a bad center light console and replaced under warranty (had mercy on me).

My hunch, this is where your headed in your case.

Bad center light console....meaning the dome light assembly? Or was there another component involved? I'm guessing that's the direction I'll be headed as well unless I can source a known part.

It was the main console that fried.

So that's the overhead map light console and associatrd BS, I assume? Sorry, looking things up I'm coming across many different component names for same parts.

Fuck me and feed me tuna fish....all this over a tiny little light! o_O

Yes sir that’s the one, hoping I’m wrong, but there’s a couple threads on it and I too fell victim to being in a hurry.

Some say it should of been just common sense to disconnect the battery, but I’m a list/instructions guy. If it’s not wrote down I’m probably not going to catch it.

Hindsight is 20/20 right? And experience usually comes with a price :spending:

    Merry Christmas!

I cruised by the dealer yesterday afternoon and they were closing up pretty quickly so I made an appointment for Tuesday morning to let them have a go at it.

Wife and I are test driving a couple RAV4's while there. I'll post results for future dome light fryers!

btw....BTW.... have printed instructions for the Meso install they could copy? That's the first thing I went looking for prior to install but the site doesn't have any install info on the dome light.

The mishap I had was trying to install an aftermarket LED which was a very tight fit. After the new fixture was installed, I went with a Meso and it went in as easily as shown in the video, but I did pull the battery connection just to be sure.
