Swapping out the entire diff and gears from my 21 Taco TRD OR (rear w lockers).

If I get older 3rd Gen Taco wo rear lockers will I be able to use my OR diff w lockers on it?

    what about 2nd & 1st Gen Toyota?

    what about 4 runners?

No, you will not be able to use your locker.
1st and 2nd Gen Tacoma used different gear ratios. They won’t work.

They are totally different axle. You can swap the whole thing housing and all probably. Not sure if the speed sensors would be compatible or not though.

If you get a whole new rear end with out lockers, you won’t be able to use your locker.
Unless “wo” means something else other than “with out”?

3rd gen e-locker axles are the new "8.75" diff which is the bd22an code with the locker and bd22a without. These axles come in all trims with e-locker (trd offroad, pro) as the bd22an and also in all manuals as the bd22a.

This means the only truck that comes with an open diff that your 3rd gen locked diff will drop into is a non-locker equipped manual transmission truck.

So if I get a manual 3rd Gen (16+) wothout (wo) lockers I can swap rear differentials to the ones that came off my 21 TRD OR? and I’m not just talking about the lockers themselves. But, the entire differential core.
