    Thanks for the detailed wire match up! Followed this to upgrade the old resistor and flat plug to the new style resistor with square plug. Worked perfectly the first time!

    My thanks to everyone who provided info on this process in this thread. My blower motor was making a lot of noise and eventually damaged the resistor pack. So I ordered a new motor and resistor pack and got the newer style with the different connector. I wouldn't have been able to wire it in without the comments you guys made here. But I wired it up, tested it and everything was perfect. One thing I noticed is that since these motors wear out gradually over many years, we don't notice how loud they get until they reach the very end of this operational life. Then you drop in a new blower motor and you're shocked at how quiet it is.

    thanks for this - very useful today. Harness and resistor were $60 from Toyota at the parts counter.

    I was having troubles with my blower either not working or only working on high so I got ready for surgery on my blower but when I investigated and unplugged and re-plugged the blower in, it worked! Between the plug being kicked and stepped on in the passenger footwell and issues with the pins and wires in the plug it just disconnects itself every so often.

    I replaced my dead blower motor resistor and the noisy blower on my 2010 in Feb with the Dorman kit . This week the fan started running only on HI, I'm hoping that it isn't the Dorman kit wire harness that has fried. I will get under the dash and check to see if it isn't seated completely. If not I will look into replacing it with this harness if need be. LAME!!

    Just did this upgrade/fix on my 2012 and it worked flawlessly. Here's to hoping the new style resistor and harness plug hold up longer than the original! THANK YOU for figuring out and sharing the wiring diagram!

    This has been a long-standing issue with my Tacoma. My fan speed started going out in 2017 and I finally replaced JUST the resistor with an aftermarket one (Dorman I think?) in late 2018. It worked for a while, until it failed again with the same issues in 2021. Clearly the wire harness had to be dealt with. I put up with the issue until last month when I ran across this thread detailing the new resistor/plug. I finally got the part in last week and replaced it today. It was a bit of a pain as I have never done any type of rewiring before. I had to buy the wire stripper tool and a heat gun for the crimping connector tubing, but it was worth it. The fan immediately worked on all four speeds after the fix.

    I've had this issue twice already with my Tacoma, replaced the resistor twice but used the same harness. It was clear that the connector was burning up, so I got the replacement harness and resistor in and wired just like the posts in this forum are telling me.. Blower control is now working BUT... 2nd highest fan setting is blowing at level 3 speed and 3rd highest fan setting is blowing at level 2 speed! Level 1 and level 4 settings are working fine. ANY IDEAS????

    Sounds like you have a wire swapped at the resistor.

    Yes, the wiring directions from previous posts did not work for me. I had to do the following:

    Old > New
    White w Blue > White
    White w Black > White w Black
    Green w Yellow > Blue
    Blue w Black > Green

    See photo. Everything works fine now.

    I also found a Youtube video where the wiring was different - if you're going to fix this issue in your truck, it might be a good idea to try a couple different patterns by just taping the splices together and testing everything before you start putting butt splices on and crimping.

    I followed the first guys cross reference and nothing worked. I followed this cross reference and it mostly worked. My two middle speeds are swapped so I still have to dick around with it which i won't do now. It's hot AF in Phoenix so this shit will need to wait till November. That said, this was a very helpful thread, so thanks all who contributed. I'll post my final configuration to help the next guy. Leave it to Toyota to fuckup something so simple. It amazes me how they've dominated this truck segment of the market when honestly the trucks are built cheap as shit.

    Just did our 2012 tonight.

    Here is what work correctly for ours:

    Old Harness -> ->New Harness
    White/Blue Stripe -> (Hi) -> Solid White
    White/Black Stripe -> (Lo) -> White/ Black Stripe
    Green/Yellow Stripe -> (M1) -> Solid Green
    Blue/Black Stripe -> (M2) -> Solid Blue

    Thanks to @Choads for posting this wiring.
