    Ho Ho Ho!

I got the following camera which works by hooking up to your phone. (Wifi)
I want to install it on my trd pro grill mainly for off-roading. I would like to keep the cost to as low as possible without risking any issues. I dont know much about electrical/wiring.

Would I be able to directly power the camera using the battery adapter? Picture below from Amazon
(Removing the 12v socket and just connecting the wires together)

So you dont want to use the 12v outlet? You could just chop that off and keep the wires with the fuse, then hook the power and ground to the appropriate terminals on the camera.

Why do you want it connected to constant 12VDC?

Correct since the camera only has loose wires, I think I would have to chop that 12v piece off

Just run one of the wires through a button. Ch4x4 is good for oem buttons, but a "front camera" button is so generic, you can probably find it elsewhere. And typically cameras use a minuscule amount of amps, so you shouldn't need a relay, but check the camera's specs first.

Here’s a couple of schematics that will help.

I use parking mode on mine, and even if I didn't, I'd still go the add a fuse route. By far the easiest method. Took me 30 minutes to install and most of it was camera placement.

@OP, I apologize, this is not a dashcam is it? Not sure how this works or if add-a-fuse is a possibility here.

No its not, its a wifi camera that as long as it has power I can view on my phone. Instructions say to just connect it to fuse box 12v acc but Im at my depth here and not sure what that means. I just dont want to burn any wiring for a $20 camera. Ill google add a fuse to see how that works.

12v acc is not a constant power. So if the truck was off you wouldn't be able to view it. You can use add-a-fuse here then. There is a couple open spots in the fuse box under the drivers side that would make it easier, but not sure where you plan on mounting this. If it's going in the front of the truck or something, then you can just splice into a non constant wire. It might sound confusing, but it's super simple.

OP, even though what you are trying to do is very basic "electrical work" you are in over your head. Purchasing a 12v power outlet just so you can cut the outlet off is a waste of money. And not knowing the difference between constant and ACC power is why you should find someone locally to do the "wiring" for you.

Best of luck, hope it all works out for you.
