The replies talking about speed impacting results are certainly spot on. I've had my truck almost 2 years now (purchased new in Jan of 2019)...I now have around 144K miles (quite a bit in 4WD), so I drive a lot. I've kept my truck stock except for switching to Micheline Defender M/S tires (stock size). I'm usually a conservative driver and most of my commutes are under 60 MPH with very few starts and stops, very little traffic, probably averaging 50-60 MPH most days - we live in a rural area surrounded by small mountains. I'm aware my drives are probably not common with most folks.

My best MPG was 28.3 on (approx) 300 mile trip - very flat roads, very rural, averaging 45-50 MPH - I was alone. The worst I recall was 16.8 (I believe) from Chattanooga through Atlanta - my wife was with me, but she's not a problem as she weighs around 120...if she was heavy i'd leave her home to save the weight.

I usually average around 20-23 MPG - not towing anything, and I'm alone 95% of the time. The trips I take to larger cities - very rarely - as I do not like traffic or people in general - my MPG takes a hit as I am traveling faster, and as mentioned that makes a definite and noticeable impact. Welcome to TW and be safe and enjoy your new truck.

Go figure, that's is the opposite of mine 20 - 21 MPG in mixed daily driving and 18 - 19 MPG out on the highway.

Good point the MT has steeper gearing.

I get 26-28 mpg on my Sport and it is stock with a soft tonneau cover, front bug deflector and window deflectors. This is driving 50-60 mph.

When I drove I-10 from TX to CA I had similar issues with all the wind. Cruise control also can kill the mileage as it will cause the truck to accelerate/decelerate rapidly to match the desired speed especially on hills which wastes a lot of energy.

The cruise control in our trucks sucks. I get much better results in both power delivery and MPG by manually controlling the throttle.

If I were you, I'd take multiple readings over a few tanks of gas. Use top tier gas and remember the variations of driving. My 2nd gen my last tank got me 14mpg around town, this previous tank got me 15 which is right at normal. 38k on the clock with AT wildpeaks. Before I switched from the highway tires I was getting slightly better.

Sometimes small things can have am impact. Don't base it off of one tank of gas.

Pretty simple with my v6 auto... i've been averaging 20-23 depending summer vs winter. This is mostly secondary highway's at 45-60 mph with a bit of in town thrown in.

Our 2016 plain Jane, stock tires, DCSB, 4 X 4 V-6 will get us around 18-19 MPG on Illinois interstates driving with the cruise set at 78 MPH. Pulling our boat, which weighs in at just over 5,000 lbs., with the cruise set at 68 MPH will net us between 11-13 MPH. We were hoping for better but it is what it is.

You can get better, around 20mpg but have to be willing to drive only 2-5 mph over the 70 mph Illinois Interstate speed limit. 78mph is a gas killer with these blunt non-aerodynamic front ends.

I get over 21 mpg doing 72-75 mph.
