For people that have bought the minimalist key fob for 3rd gens, do your lock and unlock buttons sit flush with the fob or a little raised above?

I just got the fob for Christmas and the emergency button seems raised above the fob just barely and when I depress it, it pops back out fully. Basically, it feels like a normal button. The lock and unlock buttons seem to want to sit flush with the fob as though they are always in the depressed position. It's really weird to not have the normal tactile response when pushing a button that it pops back out.

At this point I can tell that when putting it together, the button for the emergency horn seems to fit in its slot nice and easy with some wiggle room. The lock and unlock buttons seem harder to fit into their slots and kind of click into place without no play at all.

It feels to me like somethings not right given that emergency button seems "normal" in regard to operation and the lock/unlock seem wacky in that they always feel depressed. Anybody else had a similar experience? Were you able to fix it and if so, how?

I am wondering if the fob is the issue, or the button plates and if replacing one or the other is necessary.

Honestly I'm not sure. But I know I can instinctively hit lock or unlock in my pocket with hardly any thought, if that's your concern. If it's an aesthetic thing, maybe someone can chime in. Or maybe @MESO

It's fully functional but the tactile feeling of it just isn't right so it's driving me a bit crazy. :/

Did you swap over the clear rubber seal from the stock fob?

Yes, I did move it over to the new fob.

Just took it all apart again and put it back together to see if the rubber seal was not seated properly or something. All that looks good.

While I had it apart I took the button plates out and put them back in a few times. The emergency horn one definitely sits into the fob shell more easily and the lock/unlock are a tight fit that requires some pressure and they click. Seems like its either the buttons or the fob case thats making it just a bit too tight so the buttons can't travel like normal.

On a different note, just put in the v2 dome light. It freaking rocks. Thanks man, it’s nice to actually be able to see inside the cab in the dark.

I recently bought a FOB and noticed same thing. I think a few of button inserts fit too tight and don’t seem to have spring feel to them. I think I’m going to try to open it up to see if the plastic button inserts may have any rough edges that might be causing too much friction.

Funny. I bought 2 of them and just put mine into service tonight. I didn't notice an issue like the OP but I had it in my pants pocket and for the first since I've owned the truck, the panic activated while I was just moving around! I hadn't heard that horn, yet.

My buttons would sit flush but once I pushed them they would stay down. I had to disassemble and sand the edges of the buttons down, and the holes they sat it. I think the problem was more so from the holes though. After I spent some time doing that and reassembling it, it works just fine now. I got mine on the Black Friday sale.

Sorry to drift this a bit, but am I the only one that NEVER uses the fab buttons for entry? I'm a touch the door handle guy, and my fob never leaves my pocket.

I just finished using an emery board, a small cut piece, to sand inside edges of button holes (very light sanding), used some plastic shine cleaner on the edges, put back together, and all now works. I did not have to sand buttons. Buttons feel right (click) when pushed and spring back as they should. Problem solved.

Excellent, going to give that a shot today. Did you hit all four inside edges of the button holes or was it just the top or sides?

Does not need much, very light touch, I lightly sanded all sides. When finished, felt just like horn button before I reassembled.
