It’ll be sold before then. I don’t keep any vehicles that long. (Except my Part time work truck has 178k)

The Tacoma wasn’t big enough anymore for for Dog Wife, Kid, full of camping gear and it hated pulling our 14’ little 1500lb camper up mountains even with the 93 octane OV Tune. If I was single I woulda kept it for sure.

Also, I had to have my valve cover gaskets replaced on the Tacoma when it had only 20k miles due to them leaking like a sieve before you come at me with “reliability”. Lol

I never expected to use my warranty but I did a few times for some big time repairs on mine. Now to be fair to my truck I beat it like a red headed step child. The rear diff grenade'd itself on me. I also had a wiring issue that required them to remove the main harness and replace the entire thing because it lost all power to the rear and they couldn't find the short. Other than that shes been good and Toyota has taken care of the issues. Now I'm out of warranty at 115k she will still scream if I want her too but I try to put her away less wet these days since I'm gonna be traveling here soon with her. Towing and exploring trails I'm looking forward to it.

To my third gen people, what kind of wipers are you using for winter? I'm at the point where I need new blades, perfect time to throw on winter blades

I use a 1996 T100 for work with the 3.4 in it. Truck has 370,000 miles, no leaks. Bare minimum maintenance. It's beat the shit out of every day, loaded down with 4 or 5 ladders, 2 powerwashers with 400 feet of machine hoses and 200 feet of garden hoses, sometimes backpack blowers and always 15-20 gallons of cleaner on top of a full tank of gas. Starts up every day for work with no complaints. My 04 Tacoma with the 3.4 needed gaskets at 160,000 which is considered normal. It towed a boat its whole life before being smashed by a tree. The 4.0 engines never had a valve cover gasket issue from my understanding.

You bought a 2016 Tacoma, first year in its generation and you are pointing out flaws in the reliability of it. Nearly all first year vehicles of a new generation have issues that are normally worked out within a few years. So in all honesty, it's not necessarily fair or valid to all the other trouble free 3rd gens out there that haven't had issues.

So yes, Tacoma owners do buy Tacomas for proven long term reliability because most of us out here aren't trying to buy a RAM pick up truck every 5 years and start over. I bought a Tacoma after seeing my dad's Tacoma last over 400,000 miles and seeing these war torn countries running Toyota trucks in extreme conditions.

not in a third gen but if you can find PIAA silcone ones they are amazing. Clean them periodically and they will last YEARS even with snow and mud. I bought the set that are on my truck in 2018... The chips in my window have started making them streak just in the last few months. I bought another set just waiting to replace the windshield.

Thanks for the recommendation! Do you know if they work well with RainX fluid? I usually run RainX and like the beading

Same I'd sell my left nut to get a brand new helix here lmao. Those trucks were dogged in scorching summer, flooding fall, and freezing winter and over loaded like Ron White during his tatter speech. They are workhorses! I bought mine with a buy once cry once mentality, so I'm looking for it to last but still work. Build, Break, Fix. The life cycle of a good truck

I tend to avoid the rainx since running it exclusively in my 12 until I got this one in 15. The 12 had an orange film that had built up throughout the entire res and tubing. I only used the Orange one cause thats what Wally world carried and changed it regularly I go through as couple gallons every month more when I'm playing in the mud. So that means it wasn't from sitting in there for years lol. I try to use prestone now or windex when I can find it.

I had no idea Windex had a wiper fluid!

I had heard of rainx orange being not so great for the washer fluid pump, but I wonder if that film buold-up you mentioned is basically the same film that goes on the windshield. I should see if there's a way to clean it out.
