Has anyone had any luck with hard wired underhood ultrasonic repellers?

I have already cleaned out one mouse nest under my plastic trim covering the engine.

I have been reading reviews about some of the options out there, and I do use the ultrasonic plug in repellers in my house. I have had great success with those.

So i figured I might try this, any thoughts ?

No, they do not work. Don’t waste your money. I did some research on them a while back. There has actually been some studies done on their effectiveness. Some have been reported to work minimally on certain rodents but for the most part they are failures. If they worked they would put pest control companies out of business. Spend your $$ on something else.

    I appreciate the feedback.
I have had good luck with the plug in victor ones in my house. When we moved in, we had a hell of a flying squirrel and mouse colony in the attic.

By the time I saw that you posted, I had already spent an Amazon giftcard I had on them.
I will update after they have been installed for a couple weeks, and see if they "seem" to work or not. I really don't have high expectations, from all of the mixed reviews. But I will see.

So far, no sign of rodent activity under the hood, but it has not been long enough to be certain.

    Interesting......like deer whistles.

Just did a quick search for the hearing frequency range of mice 15 Hz-20 kHz. Ultra sonic frequency is outside of the hearing range. The mice can't hear it.

Human hearing range is similar. So, if human can't hear the "repelling sound", then neither can the mice.

Rats have a greater frequency range, 250 Hz - 80 kHz. Probably work for rats.

Ultrasound device begin at 20 kHz, extending into the gigahertz range.

If it works for you, then great. To me, it looks like a wallet and battery drain.

We moved into a log cabin this year and the previous owners were hardly here (second home) and mice took advantage of their absence. I installed the plug in ultra sonic repellants and sticky traps in the 1st floor. Caught some in the traps, and haven't needed them after the first month as the ultrasonic plug ins seem to be working. 99.9% of the time we're on the second floor or loft, perfect for mice to be down there.

I caught a mouse in my van yesterday with a sticky trap. It hardly ever gets used and has some rust holes along the bottom of the sides. I'm interested to see how yours works for you.

I would vote for the cure suggested by Tom and Ray Magliozzi, The "Car Talk" Guys. Soak a cotton ball with mint oil (baking ingredients aisle) and place that in a vented container secured in the area. That was suggested to them by a pest management specialist years ago, as I recall. It will smell good, and not sound like the arrival of the 'Ghostbusters'... Happy New Year!

Or place some litter box nuggets in a plastic bag and leave near the truck.
