From now on they will be known as the Taco Donner Party. We should place a historical site marker on the trail.

Trip was great, the snow was kinda icy and not super deep until you get passed the first cattle guard. Then the real fun begins.

Most of the group aired down to 8-10 and we did really well, the guys who stayed at 15psi didn't do as well and had major problems getting around.

3 trucks were unable to get back up the hill, they had to blaze a trail and head out via ice house. Fortunately the road is plowed on the other side, and they were able to take hwy 50 back home.

The pics in daylight are from before the deep snow, darker pics are from the more difficult area.

Next trip is planned for this Sunday, there should be way better conditions. Hopefully its deep enough to go over my hood, we will be towing some of the more capable rigs. To help with blazing a trail and recovery.

Also here are some pics from day 2, I went sat and Sunday. I know my pics are awful, I rarely take any. But I had a new group both days who asked to take snap a few pics. ( Probably won't ask me again:p )

It was fun, this area is great. Lots of terrain changes, and cool places to stop if you want to make a full day out of it. Just about everyone out there is willing to lend a hand if you are stuck or broken.

Right now I'm putting together a VHF radio setup for the cabin. So far I've got a motorola radio, power supply, 100' LMR400, just trying to get an antenna.

I’d love to ride up there but I have a bone stock Taco. I’d just get towed behind someone the whole trip.

As long as you have decent tires and air down, you will be fine.
At the end of the day I'm only lifted 3" and I'm able to go wherever. Try it out and you will have a good idea what a stock truck is capable of.

I need to get comms as well. I have recovery and an air compressor. Comms are next on the list but they are a bit down on the overall list.

Are you in Sacramento? I have commercial motorola radio stuff, priced pretty close to baofeng. But even ven a $30 uv5 can save your life.

I use c02, it airs up faster than shop airlines. It's only $28 to fill it at the welding shop.

We went again on Sunday. The peak of that blizzard made for some interesting conditions. Very low visibility and lots of sideways snow.

Couple of pics, hoping to make it up a couple more times before the snow is gone.

Regular wheels, I started at 6psi but it wasn't that bad out. I have starting fluid and lots of air if I lose a bead. It does happen, luckily not on this truck. Yet

I'm the only one who goes that low. Alot of guys ran 12-15 and did ok. Seating a bead isn't a big deal, and I'm comfortable doing it.

Lowest I’ve gone before was about 18 but it’s still sorta new territory to me.

12-15 is safe for those with regular wheels then?
