Having some trouble with the ABS on my 2010 Tacoma (SR5 double cab, manual trans). Lost all ABS/Traction control yesterday. Dash is lit up with the Traction control light, ABS and parking brake light. Additionally the right turn signal is constantly dimly illuminated and the and when the engine isn't running, the auto-LSD and Trac Off lights flash dimmly.

Checked all the (easy) items on the forum (fuses are all fine, relay's seem OK), don't believe it to be a wheel speed sensor. My ultra gauge shows no trouble codes, but clearing the engine codes does make the lights go away till the truck moves again.

Funny thing is using TechStream - I pull 0 codes and it says it the ABS ECU is not responding.

Dead ABS ECU or other electrical issues - thoughts?

Almost sounds like a bad ground.
If you pull the 15A Turn-Haz fuse, does the turn signal still stay on?

My guess is a short somewhere....install any electrical items recently? Had a bad harness from crutchfield that had a short, caused some weird lights on the dash like you have.

No recent electrical work (but did quite a bit about 5 years ago but that's all on a fuse box w/ it's own breaker) - but went ahead and disconnected all those and that didn't solve anything. These days the truck mostly just sits connected to a trickle charger other than weekend trips to home depot. Should note that it probably saw the coldest temps it's seen in 3 or so year yesterday as well. Pulling that fuse had zero effect on the dim lights.

But did make some progress. The dash lights and especially the dim ones are all somehow related to the left head light (noticed my left fog lamp was flickering at the same frequency as the traction and auto LSD light). Turn my headlights off and the dim ones go away immediately, the ABS and Trac turn off a couple seconds later. Turn the headlights back on, all the dash lights are back along w/ a "clunk" that sounds more like a solenoid than a relay; Will pull the dual battery tomorrow and see what's going on there (looks like the bulb connector may have gotten very hot).

Unfortunately that doesn't solve all the problems; still have no ABS, traction control - and while braking hard (intentionally sliding on ice) all those lights come back on (but no more dimly lit lights). ECU still appears to be non-functional.

See previous answer - last was done about 5 years ago

No accident, just lost ABS and Traction control functionality.

to have owned the vehicle for a decade in a static situation is unusual

the ensuing questions only to narrow the scope of examination

    if no recent activity.....................

    moisture infiltration

    corrosion

    loose connections

OEM wiring harness rubbing against frame

    etc would be possible issues
