I'm guessing they're just worried about external wiring and gaskets cracking past -40.

Unsure. But if I was in -60 degrees this wouldn't even be a consideration, those extreme low temps belong exclusively to halogens or electrically heated lighting products.

I'll have to ask the mechanics but I think they're using lightforce halogen for all auxillary lighting. I rarely see below -10 unless I'm at work. There's a reason a moved further south

Well, most folks on this thread could have seen it coming. I've had my selective yellow DD sports ice over twice now. Once in a really wet snowstorm a couple weeks ago, and another last night in a very cold very windy storm. I'm going to have to upgrade to the hotter Pro version I think.

Very cold and dry snow seem to be okay with the sports. It's the wet heavy snow that's the issue at around freezing or a few degrees below freezing is when it becomes an issue. Happened on the way to work a few weeks ago.

I would go MAX next. Price is a little steep but worth it. Currently CAD $651.53 on sale.

Right. Snow in itself isn’t necessarily an issue. It is sticky snow that is a problem, and that is usually wetter snow.

The darker filtration optic on the max combined with the higher color temp light source have more filtration/color correction than the Pros, meaning the lenses run hotter than the Pros, while providing higher intensity output and better cut offs. The Pros should do fine, but the Max will be most resistant to extreme snow and provide higher intensity output. Win all the way around.

Yes, the Pros work fine. I mentioned above about a trip over two passes in -2C steady snow and no issues with the fogs getting covered. I went with Pro over Max for the greater vertical spill to spot Bambi's mom lurking in the ditches.

Deer are the biggest cause of auto accidents in our area with a recent count of 300 in our small town. GPS trackers showed they had a range of 500m. They live here, they are not transients passing through.

For those who may be curious about the color differences Between the Max Foglights vs. the Selective Yellow SS3 Pro.

Do note the Pro's are a tad less "amber ish" in person

Still haven't figured out how I want the ditch lights aimed yet so let it trigger your OCD not being aligned

Nice. Those are the combo optics?

Videos are fun, here's one of the max fogs and pro driving lights.
